**Dell PowerEdge T20 Mini Tower Server - Owner Thread**

Yes, but check the supported CPU list from Dell, what should work and what does can be different things, this wouldn’t be the first server of this generation that lacked V4 Xeon support for example.

If you wanted to go Unifi, the UXG-Max is 190ish and 2.5Gb LAN/WAN, you just need to run your own controller on something, i'd imagine a future release will have a similar spec and onboard controller, but we are being drip fed releases still and it's not hard to run the controller on a wide...

    Possible Faulty switch

This is pointless. Your cabling is of poor quality and rather than test/identify where the issue is, you're just trying to avoid the issue. If you're happy doing that then crack on, but please don't complain about drop out's or expect further help. It would be better if you had read the...

**Dell PowerEdge T20 Mini Tower Server - Owner Thread**

USB enclosures are not something I would personally choose to put my faith in, it can go very wrong very quickly, some people do it and don't have issues, others have nightmares, also you can buy NAS cases for less than that DAS costs. Power is a subjective term, at our peak power prices it was...

Flint 2 is the obvious choice, it's a £125-145, has the option of a vanilla OWRT build or the GL-inet custom firmware's, they had a minor issue with 2.4Ghz which has seemingly been resolved with a driver rollback/branching from a slightly earlier OWRT version.

    Is this possible with VLANs?

It's an LET joke, summer hosts pop up in summer, it's a happened for many years and almost all follow the same path.

Likely just the fan, in terms of something newer, you're going to have to give us some clue as to what you actually want to do with it to get anything more than a bunch of people telling you what does/doesn't work for what they do with it, which isn't much use if that's not your usage case.

    Is this possible with VLANs?

My first thoughts are it's a bit early for host season this year? Normally it's at least another month before this happens (eg historically after exams and when the student summer starts), and they normally go bump between then and Feb.

    Aquiss

Just because they started to offer CF connections doesn’t explain why the company can email users and notify them of policy changes, announce the sale of its IP ranges on YT and somehow not tell frontline staff till customers contact them. I don't doubt Zen generally offers a better than...

    Aquiss

Who in the name of <whatever imaginary friend you choose to believe in> is saying that? Zen has been on a downward slope for years, staff are literally being informed by customers about policy changes at this point, that's not a situation that should ever exist.

Don't worry about it, much like most of the conversation in this thread, the comment went slightly over your head. Just try not to make sweeping flawed generalisations and obvious contradictions in your statements and it's all good :)

It was more than twice that for BT line rental, likely closer to three times that if paid monthly rather than annually. Cable was £10/m for phone and £3.50/m for basic TV, 512K was £50 (they actually initially pitched it higher). The hilarious part isn’t the line rental cost, it’s the £100+...

Tell me you know nothing about how a UK ISP works without telling me... That’s a bit like saying all PC’s are the same because they all use Intel or AMD CPU’s and I’d hope anyone here appreciates why that is painfully inaccurate. Vodafone don’t investigate routing issues and have a nasty habit...

    Possible Faulty switch

The advice will be the same as given at the start (other than we now know about the poor quality structured cabling). Run cables between devices and test. DO NOT USE ANY OF THE STRUCTURED CABLING.

For those on CF already reading about the OR issues Aquiss have had, this feels like a 'Hold my beer!' moment. CF avoid telling anyone anything in advance wherever possible.

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Honestly, not a feature I would imagine you using much unless something is horribly wrong, I ran Unifi AP's for something like a decade, if they went down properly and the normal controller reboot option wasn't working, it usually ended in a reset button job rather than a forced reboot. As you...

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

A few random thoughts: Unifi doesn't have to be all or nothing, you can mix and match to get the best results depending on your needs. For example, I use Deco mesh and a U6 Pro because mesh works well for me, but I need wireless VLAN support which Deco can't do, if I wasn't using VLAN, I would...

How to set up a fall-back internet connection when the primary one fails?

You'll struggle - it's woefully under specified in terms of PCIe lanes to accommodate a 10Gb SFP+ port, let alone the two you would want, you need a better CPU with more PCIe lanes and that will bump the price significantly, which makes the older desktop route the more logical as it's cheap to...

I can't say a lot of positive things about reliability when it comes to CF. Ideally you expect to be notified of planned works and them to be carried out at anti-social times of the day, unfortunately that's rarely the case. Things just happen, and it's generally only by checking other CF ISP's...

If you have the details on email they will honour it. Just because whoever you spoke to can’t doesn’t mean VM won’t. Simply that he personally may lack the credit limit and inclination to.
