Fallout TV series being developed by Amazon

Watched the first episode yesterday evening and it was quite good once the action started. The first twenty minutes or so in the Vault were a bit icky, not sure what version of the game that was inspired by. Like the Brotherhood Of Steel though the Knights in the game don't speak like that in...

What TV shows are you currently watching

Been watching it. Quite slow but last night's episode perked up a bit. As much about post Civil War politics particularly under Johnson the regime was not, in fact, very well disposed to the blacks at all. As for the rest, well despite the story being spiced up a bit we all know the outcome.

    Three body Problem (2024)

Watched it, first couple of episodes were a bit of a plod but it did get better as the show went on. Just really hard to get all that excited about a threat that is 400 years in the future and while the effect of the sophon's might be real the rest is all a bit abstract. Felt sorry for

    Shogun

Must admit it's not too bad, though it might not please the purists I would prefer if all the dialogue was in English. With two thirds of the on screen time being given to Japanese characters and speakers, gets a bit tedious having to watch the subtitles. Guess that could change later on when...

    What book are you reading...

Was only aware of the three books which follow on from each other, Wool, Shift then Dust.

    Halo (TV Series)

Must admit, this is hitting the spot. Last week's big battle had a Mass Effect vibe about it to me, anyway. Definitely gameplay with the moving to cover, shoot, move again style action.

    What book are you reading...

Finally finished the Hugh Howey Silo trilogy. Very satisfying and all but a handful of the mystique behind the silos very well explained. Will probably read again later in the year as I did skim some of the chapters so keen was I to see where the story led. Just a shame the TV series only...

    Massive Car insurance costs?

It's just a farce. I mean previously you would get an outrageous quote and a bit of haggling on the phone would get that down to not much more than the previous year. But 75% to 200% increases in premiums should IMHO should be under scrutiny by the Ombudsman or whoever in quasi authority has...

    Masters of the Air 2023

Found last night's episode frankly a bit boring. Virtually no aviation action at all. I mean I know BoB had a couple of quieter episodes but it still presented a coherent story.

    Massive Car insurance costs?

£211 last year with bank Of Scotland for my old Kia Sportage. Changed in July to Toyota Yaris Hybrid for which no additional premium levied. Renewal arrived this morning, wanting £599! No change in circumstances other than me being a year older, no claims (I even paid for a windscreen chip...

    What book are you reading...

Just finished reading Shift by Hugh Howey, which is the second book in the Silo trilogy. Primarily a prequel to the first book Wool, essentially a collection of story threads over a 300 year timespan which gives pretty much all the background to how and why the Silos came to be. I particularly...

What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

Must admit I've cooled off on W&R a little bit, one of the campaign missions wasn't going anywhere no matter what I did to try and push it along. So actually back in Transport Fever 2 now, especially after discovering the wealth of mods - a huge range of British buses and trains which you can...

    Masters of the Air 2023

Yes as noted earlier, the RAF airmen were basically Biggles, Ginger and Algie (can never remember the name of the 4th team member), all talking like Codsworth out of Fallout 4. Only thing missing was one of them having a monocle.

    Executed by nitrogen gas

Problem with shooting is that a firing squad aiming at the heart can miss, requiring someone to administer the coup de grace. A bullet to the back of the head is liable to spread brains and mess all over the place. hence my earlier assertion, distasteful and possibly frightening for the victim...

    Masters of the Air 2023

Not bad, at least unlike For All Mankind there's a fair bit of action. Pacing a bit off in the second episode I thought, the "mission" ought to be the climax of the episode not towards the beginning. Just hope it doesn't start getting bogged down with romantic tosh, focus on the war story. And...

Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic. https://store.steampowered.com/app/784150/Workers__Resources_Soviet_Republic/ Essentially it's Cities Skylines with a Russian theme but far more in depth in terms of micro managing just about everything. Still in Early Access and if you want the...

    Executed by nitrogen gas

If you read the memoirs of some British executioners (Albert Pierrepoint and Syd Dernley who was an assistant), they come across as quite normal people. Guess people thought differemtly back then, it was a job that had to be done and done dispassionately with no view on the person's guilt or...

    Executed by nitrogen gas

I'm not overall opposed to capital punishment for the most heinous crimes but there is just so much wrong with the American system and this latest method of execution sounds appalling. For starters the US justice system sees most prisoners spend longer on Death Row than most other countries...

    £20 Steam credit spend?

Could keep it towards Explorations which is apparently the sequel to Snowrunner and comes out in a few weeks. In fact I must have been living under a rock as I hadn't even heard of it until someone mentioned it on the Dovetail train sim forums.

What TV shows are you currently watching

It's been around for a bit but just started watching For All Mankind on Apple TV. It's actually been around for a while, the basic premise of the show being a cross between sci-fi/sci-reality depicting an alternative history of the space race had The Soviet Union beaten the USA and made the...
