Helpdesk/issue tracker recommendation for extremely large number of tickets

If you are *just* servicing tickets in a customer service environment I'd suggest Kayako or Zendesk as some others have already mentioned. Very simple, fast and scalable.

Bought a couple in B&Q recently (flimsy and very basic but cheap).

    VPN on dedicated server

While VPN is probably preferable, SSH can be used for most of the same functions, including tunnelling. If SSH is already in place it is trivial to switch it to a port other than 22, disable root logons and secure it with private keys. (maybe 30 minutes work).

Small Enclosed Rack Required - Home

I'd have thought it best to just buy a lockable half height cupboard with a mid shelf and then drill out any holes you might need for cables and airflow. The kind of thing you find lying in the corner of every office. Purely as an example to illustrate what I mean...

terminal services / rds - smartcards

Personally, I'd steer clear of smartcards since there is the extra overhead of maintaining readers for them. Just use a different kind of hardware token like the RSA SecureID. You can even ditch the hardware keyfob and go with a software only solution, installing the keycode generator on...

Trying to blag new I.T. job, pre interview questions are a bit vague

These questions arent vague at all - they are open questions designed to probe your knowledge rather than just allow you to stream off a list of TLAs. Taking the first question as an example, I would be looking for answers that deliver a joined up solution to the problem. So think about the...

    New Guild Structure for WoW

Pretty much this. I think this idea is too much structure personally. Also, assuming you adopt it, how do your vets/officers/guild leader get raid ready? Who do they instance with? I used to run in a guild that tried to run two ten man teams almost in competition with each other - it...

Is there such a thing as a good gaming laptop under £800?

You can get a Dell XPS 15 L502x off the Outlet that is essentially that spec for about half the money mentioned (I paid £460 for mine). Granted mine 'only' has 4GB RAM (£40 upgrade if you want 8GB) and is only a Sandybridge i5 but it has the gorgeous 1920 screen and a slightly nicer chassis (IMHO).

The OCUK Alliance Guild are recruiting for MOP!

I dropped an app on the website - I'll be ingame on and off this week.

The OCUK Alliance Guild are recruiting for MOP!

Yeah, DKs now have such a bad rep - like Hunters in TBC but its the perfect chance to get to know you guys without having to grind too much. Ranged DPS seems to have the edge right now and its where I have always played in the past - Rogue/Warrior/DK though would be an interesting change of...

The OCUK Alliance Guild are recruiting for MOP!

You might still be eligible for a Scroll of Ressurection which would grant you a 'free' level 80 toon on a server of your choice. That would be a good way to meet the guild members and see if the game still interests you. You need a current subscriber to send you a scroll - feel free to send...

The OCUK Alliance Guild are recruiting for MOP!

Cool - I'll spin up a DK sometime this week so we can have a chat though if things work out I would probably roll/level something else more permanently.

The OCUK Alliance Guild are recruiting for MOP!

Moonglade used to be my primary home but I have since moved all of my 85s on to pastures new. Still, I wouldn't mind making some new friends and looking up some old mates on the server. I'll be playing MoP casually with old friends over two different servers so if you don't mind me being...

    Hybrid PBX

Like most of the previous posters have said, Asterisk is fine and if implemented properly will serve an SME very well. I've worked around it in two businesses now (one a fairly sophisticated but small contact centre) and I would always consider it an option in the future. A good...

    XPS 15, good choice?

I have an L502x with the 1920 screen and I love it. I have had it for about 3 months now with no issues whatsoever. It will be getting a 256GB SSD in the DVD tray shortly.
