My gaming PC is starting to struggle. It's ~7 years old now (minus upgraded GFX) and its starting to struggle -- probably CPU bottleneck and lack of RAM. I think it's time to splash out, but I'm totally out of the loop. Here's what I have now:
Intel Core i7 920
EVGA NVidia GTX 780
Gigabyte...
Haha yeh I saw the reviews...though that could be a mistake and probably not something I should automatically expect.
I have also looked at the EVGA cards purely for the reasons mentioned (mainly, warranty support).
Again thanks for the input.
I will now go away and consider plumping for the graphics card now and using that in this system for a month. Originally the plan was to hold out until the high end 800 series was released, but its looking more and more that that will be closer to 2015. That said...
Good suggestions thanks.
I should have mentioned I do have Nvidia 3d vision. I'm not that bothered about it, but it would be nice to keep it as an option. What nvidia option would you suggest on (tamzzy's specs)?
Secondly, am I being an idiot for not waiting for the haswell refresh + z97...
Hello everyone!
Old time poster, very out of the loop, exhuming my OCUK account to get some solid advice on my new build.
Right now I have:
i7 920
Gtx 560ti
Gigabyte ex58-ud3r
6gb 1600mhz ddr3 triple channel
I think it's about time to move on (might retire this build to a TV...
Thanks guys. Here is a revised spec:
I realise 120gb SSD is a big boost, but he seems happy with just having fast OS loading times and the other 2 drives in raid 0.
Motherboard - someone needs to convince me the ASRock is better.
Graphics - the crossfired cards worth it and the PSU...
Speccing out a gaming rig for. Budget £1200 but £1300 possible. Here is where I'm at so far:
Also looking for screen recommendations.
Thanks guys
Im a current first year student at southampton uni (loughborough was my insurance - so ive seen the lab machines there).
I personally have a full maxed out gaming i7 beast but thats only because my dad kindly bought it for me.
In reality you only need a basic machine. I would say just a...
By mobile chipsets they are referring to laptop motherboards in general. This indeed could be the problem.
If thats the case you cant really do anything other than get a new laptop (assuming it is the chipset at fault and not intel being lazy breaking things in the firmware).
Your only option...
Hmmm.
Well now were stuck on whether it is a compatibility issue or the drive is bad.
I assume you cant try it on another machine? Other than that, I dont know what to suggest.
Also its worth noting the hx750 is a pretty new product compared to the 650 which is pretty old now. The general stability and quality of the hx750 is better.
I assume any firmware updates from intel have been done?
We cant rule out the mobo here. What is your motherboard? Ensure it is connected to the main sata controller and not the "addon" ones that come on some mobos which are usually processed by a not-so-good jmicron or similiar controller.
