    BBC license fee proposals...

Now TV doesn't require a licence either. Currently the licence is for LIVE TV only, so whilst Now TV does have the ability to watch some live TV, if you don't watch that part of the service then you don't need a licence. It's up to TV Licensing to prove that you do. I phoned them last year when...

PC on the desk or on the floor?

Prefer having mine on my desk. Less dust and I like looking at it.

Simple cheap machine/device as minecraft LAN server?

Sorry if this is the wrong place for posting this, I wasn't sure where to put it. My google skills are failing me on this. I'd like to be able to set up something cheap with a very low power draw just to act as a minecraft LAN server that can be left running 24/7. I know minecraft realms exists...

    IPS - Bad viewing angles?

I'm curious as to why you're using your screen at odd angles? I just sit in front of mine head on.

    Android weather apps

Can anyone tell me where android weather apps get their data from? I've tried googling but I'm not finding anything. I've got a weather app on my phone and it gives the location as exactly where we live but the same app on my Mrs's phone is giving a location just up the road. I can't imagine...

    Vacuums for animal hair

We've had a Dyson Animal DC25 for years. We've got a long haired house cat and a labrador so fur is plentiful. Hoover every day and it's been great on all surfaces. What bugs me about it though is the power lead isn't long enough and nor is the flexible hose. Can't get to the top of the stairs...

Curious those with touch screen laptops

I also have a Linx 1010b and use the touchscreen as well as the trackpad. Swiping and clicking on large things is quicker and easier on screen but trying to click small things like the tiny page numbers at the bottom of threads/pages is easier with the pad.

Why I haven't been on the forums (for quite some time)

2560x1080, thumbnails look awful. It was the first thing that struck me. Prices are still in Euros for me.

    Your current Fish tank Setups!

I to kept my goldfish this way as a kid. If I remember correctly it was always trying to jump out and lived about a year. This might have been acceptable when we were kids but the fish keeping hobby knows better now. Goldfish can live in excess of 20 years when kept correctly. If you want to try...

    Your current Fish tank Setups!

I keep a dwarf puffer in a planted tank. I won't show a picture though as whenever I have on other places I just get negative comments about how it's boring and pointless to keep one fish. Puffers are aggressive and should be kept alone. I'm happy with the tank and my single fish so that's all...

    Your current Fish tank Setups!

That Guide is way too basic and makes no mention of cycling the tank and how to test the water during the process. That link also doesn't show what you were sold but I'm guessing it's something tiny. As has been mentioned, goldfish grow huge and live a very long time when kept correctly. Stick...

    Just cause 3

Finally a field of view mod and it works. http://justcause3mods.com/mods/fov-patcher/ You need to have the game running before you open JustFOV. I'm using it at 70. You'll need to do it every time you launch the game. They need to fix a few bugs if possible though, the crosshairs don't always...

What sort of spider is this? (spider pic inside)

Sorry to be the boring one but looks like it might be Steatoda grossa. Adult females are usually plain whilst males and juveniles have a pattern. If you're interested in seeing what other spiders could be lurking around your house and garden then...

Do you/have you gone to the cinema on your own

Haven't been to the cinema for years but used to go on my own quite often, usually first showing on a Saturday when it was nice and quiet. Sometimes I was the only one in there! I think going places alone might be an age thing. My son is 13 and tells me it's considered "sad" to go anywhere...

    best cheapest 10 inch tablet?

Got a Linx 1010b myself and I'm very impressed. It's very snappy and boots in a matter of seconds from cold. Runs a proper Windows 10 Home 32bit so you're not limited in any way. I was dubious about the 2GB DDR3 but Windows is pretty responsive, certainly much quicker than I was expecting and...

Windows 10 and Start is back

Cant see a problem with the start menu but I rarely go into "all apps". Stuff I use regularly is either pinned to my bar or pinned as a tile. If I need to find something I press the windows key and start typing it.

Shed some light, on your sheds..

I've found that pond liner works well as a shed roof covering. I replaced my felt that ripped in high wind with cheap 3 ply pond liner. Cost me about £10 on an 8 x 6 shed that I use as a pond filter house. Lasted a few years now and still looks like it did when I bought it. The shed is just a...

What mobile phone do you own?

Moto G gen 2. Previously had expensive contracts that included a handset but as a cost cutting exercise I bought my own and went for a monthly sim only plan. I'm not a heavy smart phone user and have found that it suits me just fine. Fits in my pocket much easier and is quick, especially with...

    120mm exhaust fan recommendation?

I've got 6 of the noise blocker XL1's, they run fine at 5v which makes them super quiet. I saw only a 2C difference in CPU and GPU temps by running them at 12v in my case.

    Amazon Logistics

Had numerous deliveries from Amazon lately and miffed to find out that they will no longer come to the door with the parcel. Apparently they need permission to enter a garden, instead they sit in their van and phone the customer if there's a number to phone and you have to go out to them. One of...
