Just an update on this for anyone in the same situation, turns out it was the 1070. Thankfully EVGA are very good with their warranties so it's going back for replacement.

Oh right, I'll have a further look into that, thanks for finding that out. I'll check it at the computer shop (just moved and no friends with PCs here..). May be the excuse I need to upgrade :p

Damn, that's what I was thinking. It is under warranty still so I'll ask about it. The motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics as far as I'm aware and the CPU is an FX 8350. Thanks for your replies!
