Thanks guys.
I replaced the case with the Corsair Vengeance C70 (and reduced the number of fans from 6->3) and the graphics card with Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 WindForce 2X.
Also I upgraded the SSD to a 256GB Vertex 4.
Thanks for the help guys, it's all ordered now!
The lack of a DVD drive is intentional :)
Looking at bit-tech's case benchmarks for cooling, the Antec 1200 trumps the Bitfenix, and we're impartial to the design differences. Thanks for the feedback though :)
Hi all,
Just wondering if you guys could check over the specs for a gaming machine I'll be building for a friend of mine. Mainly just checking that I've chosen the right things for the price range!

Hi all,
I will be moving to university soon and unfortunately my flat or room has no wireless connectivity. I am wondering if there are any switches available which also act as wireless access points. I'm sure they exist but I'm having a really hard time finding one.
I keep finding wifi...
I had a StealthXStream PSU that refused to boot about 1 week after the warranty (1 year) expired. The fact that a PSU has lasted 5 years anyway shows it's lived a good life. I expect it is most likely the PSU, do you not know anyone whose power supply you could borrow to check if the PC boots?
The event log contains nothing interesting, really. There are no event logs relating to the shutdown, but it whinges a bit after restarting:
Kernel-Power (Critical):
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding...
Hi all,
I'm currently having a problem where my PC will randomly hard reset (no BSOD or warning) during non-processor intensive tasks (such as editing a Word document), but has yet to reboot during CS:GO or watching 1080p movies across 3 monitors. This has led me to believe it's not a...
Contact OC, they're replacing mine (same card, same problem... except it was impossible to mitigate the noise completely.) Horrendous vibrations... was making my entire case shake.
Wow that's amazing. Do you mind sharing your BIOS settings?
I'm on an i7 920 too. 4.2GHz at 1.39v... watercooled. It's ridiculous how hard this chip is to overclock. I have the same stepping and revision as you, so I'm very interested how you achieved this OC!
It's not possible to RMA directly to MSI (they say go to the reseller) and I'm doubting OC will want anything to do with it (I broke it, it's not their problem, right?) Any ideas?
Was worried that was the problem. During a recent painful episode, my finger got caught in one of the fans and a fan fin broke off. This must void the warranty for sure.
Is it possible to buy spare Twin FrozR III coolers from OC or MSI? Or if I RMA the item they could replace it and I pay?
Hi all,
I've got a problem with my 6950 that's causing it to vibrate loudly between 45%-75% fan speed. I've had to set my temperature/fan speed curve to:
...to stop it vibrating.
How can I prevent this? I can reduce the vibration if I support the unsupported end of the PCB up. Note that...
Unfortunately, I bought the 6950 at the same time as someone else (no seriously what're the god damn chances) and fate was against me.
So I'm still open for suggestions guys! I'm struggling to find a 6950/6970 that's economically viable (I don't want to have to replace them both in a year when...
I assume you have dual 6970's at the moment? What's your total resolution with all 3 monitors then? Also what FPS do you get on Ultra on BF3?
It would be very useful for me to know this as I'm considering dual crossfire of 6950s, and mainly play BF3.
Thanks in advance man :)
Unfortunately I don't have that kind of cash. I'm already spending over £300 on these two new monitors.
Unfortunately OC no longer sell my graphics card (6950 Twin Frozr III), and I really don't have enough cash for a 7970 (or nvidia equivalent).
Thanks haha but it's not until mid June...
