recommendations for a lightweight tripod (and maybe new head) for high end property photography

What's your budget? For architecture I prefer geared or 3 way heads. The ideal setup for me would be a Gitzo 2-series and an Arca Swiss D4 geared head, but that's going to be a 1.5K setup before you get into plates and L brackets. A more budget setup would be a Benro GD3WH for the head and...

    Glastonbury

Kendrick Lamar is really great live (saw him in Hyde Park a few years ago), will have to catch his set on TV. Out of that list, I'd see Anderson .Paak, Caribou (saw him back in 2014 at West Holts), FKA Twigs (annoyingly missed her in '15, was dragged along to a rubbish comedy set), Clairo...

    ***Death Stranding***

Really enjoying it so far (aside from the tiny UI, sofa is far back though), really makes me want to head out and do some trail running as there’s a similar chill, zoned out feel in this game especially as you build momentum and navigate trickier routes. Story/production is typical Kojima so I...

    NYC Street

Bresson's most famous (and best really) photographs all had deep depth of field though, the only shallow DOF shots of his that I can quickly recall would be his portraits of Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus. Maier is a little different since she was shooting 6x6 most of the time. A better...

    Aperture control on D750

For D series lenses you always leave the aperture on F/22 and use the sub command dial to adjust the aperture (that's why they have a little orange locking tab/switch). The aperture ring was for AF lenses in the 90's/early 00's to maintain full compatibility with older film Nikon SLRs (think F4...

Made the leap into 8x10: Deardorff V8 + Nikon 300/5.6 New 3-series Gitzo setup as well, very happy with it, holds up the 8x10, 4x5, and 6x7 kit with ease.

    The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

Yeah I think it’s just a matter of time as well. I think it makes more sense for the Canon lenses to have gained more initial support considering they are more popular and Canon’s own sensors haven’t been quite as good as Sony/Nikon over the past 5 or so years, so you’d have more Canon users...

    The Sony A73/A7R3/A7S3/A9 Thread

It's only Nikon's old AF-D range that needs a mechanical linkage to the body for autofocus, their new stuff (e.g AF-S, G, E - pretty much every lens in the last 18 years) focuses electronically. I'm guessing Nikon's AF algorithms don't lend themselves quite as easily to reverse engineering +...

    *** 'Let's Meet At Our Place' Event : 12th September 2017 ***

Ideally it'd just be part of your monthly data allowance if you have a phone contract with them (so you buy the watch outright and link it to your phone) but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Interested in the new watch, will have to see how much EE will charge for the LTE though.

    Film - talk to me!

Yeah its best to get a scanner and go develop only or develop it yourself. A decent Plustek can be had for around £100, or even a Epson V550, but don't expect digital sharpness from the Epson! As for differences between 35mm bodies, it's just like digital - in the grand scheme of things it...

    Film - talk to me!

Personally I'd avoid any of the autofocus bodies as they don't really offer anything much different in terms of ergonomics to your Fuji cameras. They're good bodies but you're trading away the smaller size and lenses for autofocus. Personally I'd keep an eye out for a Nikon FM2n, they're fully...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

The shutter on the D810 is so nice, it sounds so much quieter and dampened. It doesn't seem like a huge step up from the D800/800E but all the little changes (the new grip, added video features) Nikon made really add up. Might go for one depending on how the D850 turns out.

    Which monitor calibrator for iMac?

Seconding the X-Rite i1 Display Pro. It's still a little more accurate/sensitive compared to the newer Spyder 5 Pro. Like I mentioned in your TP thread, it's by far the most common calibrator I see on set and at post production places.

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Yeah, I was shopping around for a 6x7 that I could shoot fairly quickly like a 35mm, narrowed it down to the Fuji GW670/Mamiya 7/Pentax 67, the Pentax won out in the end since it was easier to find a good deal on a body/lens kit. The RZ67 is really, really good though, the lenses are so sharp...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

New lens day: Pentax 67 55~100mm f/4.5. The combo is sitting on top of a 15 inch MacBook Pro for reference although the distortion exaggerates the size - it'd cover a 13 inch easily though. Very heavy lens (1.2kg!) but the quality is just as good as the equivalent primes so in a way I'm...

    Fuji X Series

Looking at the photos again, I suspect the big windows in the room are what cause the green tint (iron oxide according to Pilkington). To our eyes it'll be imperceptible, but cameras can still pick it up. Canon's look is a little more red/magenta compared to other brands, so it cancels out the...

    Fuji X Series

Could be the difference between the 16MP and 24MP sensors and the way Camera Raw chooses to interpret their files. I do know that Canon files generally have more vibrant reds straight out of the box, and that Fuji's look when it came to film is generally a bit greener and colder compared to...
