Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Right, I'm £350 over budget, I hope there are no major issues with this. Longevity is the main thing here, I don't want to have to upgrade for about five years! My basket at OcUK: 1 x Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT Pulse 20GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card (SKU: GX-3A7-SP) = £739.99 1 x AMD Ryzen...

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Okay, change made to mainboard (again, its something I never really overemphasized - I usually closed my eyes and picked a £100 model in the past and hoped for the best). The 4080 super, blimey, a grand for a card, maybe for a 4090 but even within the confines of my budget that's a hard one to...

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Wasn't aware of the Gigabyte thing. Can switch to a new Corsair in that case, my current one (500w) must be well over 10 years old and never had a hiccup out if it so I'll just stick with them again. Same re memory/expo, never heard of it but will switch to that too. Much appreciated folks, I...

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Made a few adjustments to build and budget based upon above recommendations and am going to pull the trigger on this, could some of you cleverer folks give it a once over..... Should it be good enough to run Pong at max settings? I like my games to look good, really good and run very smoothly...

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Nope. I'll go down that route a little later, five hdd's (12tb) and two ssd's (2tb) I'm currently using so I've not really been too fussed about upgrading them. Advice taken on board though, cheers.

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

7900 XT (likely) it is then! As I originally said, my last build was 2016 so by the time this new one is on its knees (approx 2032!) it'll just be a complete new build again instead of doing the relatively sensible thing now and investing in a better mainboard, cpu etc.

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Interesting, thanks for taking the time to research that. I could I guess with the money saved on ram, power supply and mainboard do something daft and go for complete overkill and buy a 7900xt.

Out of the loop - £1500 to spend on gaming PC (no monitor, case, ssd, peripherals)

Hi boys & girls, I've not upgraded since 2016 - when I buy a PC I buy one to last (current setup, i76700, gtx 1070, 16gb ram, etc) It's served me well but I want something a lot better. £1500 budget, don't need case, monitor or any ofther bits & bobs, just the usual. Here is what I'm toying...

Home security cam with optical zoom

Hi all, I have about £200 give or take to play around with. Basically I want a home/outdoor cam to keep an eye on my garden shed & car which is parked across the street from me. I've done some googling but the choice is so overwhelming. What I want in order of importance is the following...

Building a 'high end' core 2 duo/quad pc?

Hi all, I'm putting together a hand-me-down pc for a family member who'll use it for mainly entertainment purposes but with the odd bit of gaming too (emulation mostly). Anyway I thought it might be fun to build a rig as powerful as possible but constrained by the mainboard and gpu in it...

    Good atx case under £100

Hi all, usually I do my own detective work but I've been out of the upgrading game so long I just don't know where to start. I need an atx case, preferably a full tower but my budget will probably mean midi (is there a major difference?) good air flow with more than one fan included, couple of...

    Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Are we in any way looking at a really significant graphical/performance boost with these over the 10 series? Is it even worth my time bothering as I game at 1080p with my 1070?

Z170 PRO GAMING - compatie with m.2 ssd?

Thanks fellas. I intend getting it because its a tidier option though from the bit of digging I've done it appears the mainboard does support nvme too, so I may as well get one? It is however going to be just for general use/heavy gaming.

Z170 PRO GAMING - compatie with m.2 ssd?

Forgive my ignorance folks, my sata ssd has just died a slow death after a good 10 years or so of use. Wanted to get a new one here but suddenly I see ssd's that look like sticks of ram. New one to me. M.2 ssd I see they are called and faster than sata based models? Anywho, I have an Asus Z170...

    £700 gaming build?

Sorry, no peripherals or Windows. Gaming at 1080p. Build recommendation looks nice, should I be able to run stuff like COD, GTA, etc near enough 1080p/60 (or min around 45fps) with perhaps high, not max settings on?

    £700 gaming build?

Not looking to run Doom or ROTTR, etc at ultra settings but something quite respectable, certainly in excess of vanilla PS4 or Xbox One. Can you folks recommend something? Monitor isn't required. Thank you :)

    6700k - quick temp spikes - normal?

Bah, loads of BSOD when playing various games last night. Went back to the auto voltage and everything is more stable. Sod it, think I'll leave well enough alone. An idiot like me has no business playing with BIOS settings.

    6700k - quick temp spikes - normal?

Right, changed the voltage (1.25v), reset the PC and took cover (it was my first time, okay!) Still getting what I now know are normal spikes but the cpu temp is only hitting low thirties instead of forty to fifty. Happy ;)

    6700k - quick temp spikes - normal?

Yeah, I'm seeing that figure a lot after googling. I basically just change it from auto to the figure you mentioned in BIOS and that's it, yes?

    6700k - quick temp spikes - normal?

Thanks fellas. Voltage and overclocking and all that stuff is way over my head. I done a little bit of googling based on the above replies and found some info on under volting: http://www.overclock3d.net/news/cpu_mainboard/how_to_manually_set_and_undervolt_your_cpu_vcore/1 Provided this...
