Another 2500K user here with an itch but no real reason to jump as a BF4/Insurgency player. Oh and Arma3, which is pretty CPU intensive but currently not showing enough of a jump with new processors to warrant a whole new setup.

Hi m8
I run a 2500K with a 290 (XFX version) and they are a great combination. Do you overclock the CPU ? It could make a bid difference in some games and could be the cause of your slowdowns - I run mine ar 4.6MHz with a bit of tweaking, but do read around it and take it easy.

I keep everything on the centre screen of the eyefinity group (its one of the settings I came across setting it up). I turn the other (outer) two off if I need to and just turn them on for gaming.

I owned :
Going back I liked my 4890.
XFX 6950 which unlocked to a 6970 and was a good clocker.
Windforce 7950, again a good clocker.
I think :
I would add the 690 (which I nearly pressed the button on) and the current 970.

I ordered and got a confirmation but don't hold out much hope as the order on the system is now for a total of £700 ! And for once I was quickest out of the gate, and even thought if was legit as I thought they were 290 and not 290X.

Mine went through at the lower price and I have an order confirmation email though payment not showing in PayPal just yet, so it look like it might be an error. That or a lot of F5 buttons are going to wear out on keyboards !

I run three 1680x1050 Samsung screens just over 5m pixels, and running BF4 on mostly high setings and all AA options etc off I use between 3.1 and 3.2 Gb VRAM on my 290.

Same here, except I use a triple monitor set up and looking across the games results it seemed to give the 290 the edge in the games I play (probbly due to the 512 bit bus), so I went for the XFX deal. If/when I sell my 7950 and game codes it'll probably be nearer the £100 mark for the upgrade...
Yep - was good to play a couple of rounds with the youngsters (think I was the oldest duffer on). Zavod still wins for me (though the urban part of the railway map has its moments. Might have to check out a more regular visit, if I can fit it in between Arma and Insurgency. Oh, and the real life...
