    New gearbox after 25k miles

Yeah, my Clubman still has 1 year left, so I'm definitely going to extend next year. It's not the kind of lottery you want to win. :p I'm sure my dad would have extended his if he was aware it was due to run out. Between my dad and I, we have had quite a few Mini's over the years and we have...

    New gearbox after 25k miles

He has dropped it off at the BMW/Mini specialist who just so happen to be within a mile of the BMW garage (it's an industrial estate with a lot of dealerships around). Funnily enough, that BMW garage wasn't aware/hadn't heard of that company. He took the diagnostic report to the indie specialist...

    New gearbox after 25k miles

So my dad has a 2018 Mini with an 8 speed auto. It has around 25k miles and he's had the car for just over a year. The warranty ran out at the end of March unknown to him. The car is financed on PCP. His car suddenly started having issues engaging gears. It would sometimes rev before the gear...

What is the best car you've ever owned and a brief reason why?

I would say my current Mini Clubman. 300BHP, AWD, practical and fun to drive. Makes a nice noise when you want it to, but also quiet on the motorway when cruising at 70. It's quite unassuming/not very well know compared to similar performing cars like the Golf R, M135i etc. The sad part is that...

What are the 30 year old plus gamers playing?

Never played a GoW game before until the PC version. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Massive Car insurance costs?

That's genuinely shocking. Being able to order a genuine replacement key from just a VIN number is a joke. I knew things were bad, but this is next level.

    Massive Car insurance costs?

My insurance company are not renewing my insurance as they say I no longer meet their criteria (Used to be called Sky, they are now Safely Insured). Nothing has changed other than I now have 1 additional year of no claims. And now my insurance has gone up £150 compared to last year. Could be...

    Who here owns a Mini?

I've got the JCW one. Decent build quality and way better than the original. Never liked the original shape of them. They remind me of a flying saucer lol. I think the new gen Mini key fobs look much better.

    Who here owns a Mini?

I get 30.6 MPG on mine (Face lift, so auto only). My commute is a 40-mile round trip. Roughly 25 of those miles is motorway, the rest city driving, which is probably killing my MPG. That and a slightly heavy right foot when I can. Yeah, I do agree. Sometimes when I take the car for a drive...

What have you done to your car today?

Cheers, I'll give it a try. Nothing to lose at this point!

What have you done to your car today?

Attempted and failed to remove the washer pump filter. My windscreen washer is barely reaching the windscreen. If you leave it for a few seconds, then try again, it is at full pressure for like 1 second, then it drops instantly. Had a look around various Youtube videos and found plenty of...

    Who here owns a Mini?

I was always disappointed with the stock sound on my LCI JCW. It was just too muted. My Dad had a LCI JCW as well, but has since traded it for a pre-lci auto and the sound difference is laughable lol. It almost sounds like it’s modded compared to the LCI. I definitely agree here. You don't want...

    Who here owns a Mini?

Personally, between me and my Dad, we've had 6 current gen Mini's. One with the 1.5l and the other 5 with the 2L. Never had an issue with either. The 2L used is the BMW B48 engine. Widely used throughout BMW models as well, so if there were major/common issues, we would know about them by now.

Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

On the plus side for Russia, it's one less plane they need to worry about maintaining. :p

    ***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

They do look quite smart, but yeah at £100 a pop, a bit pricey. I do have the Maclaren F1 wall mounted by using a screw and metal wire tied to one of the main chassis supports in a way to not make it visible, but this would finish the look.

    What's your CPU upgrade cycle?

I've had a mixture of Intel and AMD in the past. I'm currently using an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (Bought when it first came out) with a GTX 1080. Planning on upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and probably an RX 7800 XT. Those 2 upgrades alone will make a huge difference, and I don't need to worry about...

The UN should have the talks with Russia, then proceed to grill them about the total destruction of towns and cities caused by Russia.

    Mandatory Driving Test

I also live in Fife and commute 5 days a week into Edinburgh, so I do feel your pain. :p I do feel like some kind of brushing up on driving skills is needed, both on the practical side and theory side. How we do this though to make it work, I'm not sure.

How Long Have You Off For Christmas

On my way home from the works Christmas lunch. That's me off now until the 2nd. So glad to have the time off. I'm quite lucky because my manager has 2 young kids and has used all of his holidays throughout the year, so I was originally expecting to work at least one day next week, but now have...

    What was your first Smartphone?

My first proper smartphone (As in all touch screen, no number keys, Android based) was a Dell Streak. Probably the largest phone at the time. People used to say it was too large, yet modern day phones dwarf that Dell. Some people even asked me at the time if it was an iPad. :p
