Most of the early 775 boards are not compatible with Core 2 processors. In fact not all Conroe/kentfield boards are compatible with Wolfdale/yorkfield processors.
Intel may have stayed with one socket but compatibility was broken throughout its lifetime.
Thats not to say that AMD is better...
Ivy bridge-E should come out.
Haswell will follow the same route, mainstream first, enthusiast/servers later on. This is probably due to the smaller sizes involved in making the mainstream processors vs. the enthusiast/server ones.
Intel is playing it smart. Even without a K chip people still reccomend others to buy i3s instead of AMD processors that are overclockable. So in the end this works out better for Intel. If you want more performance, they want you to pay for it.
IPC is only relevant if both samples clock the same. if an architecture is optimised for clocks it should be able to hit higher clocks than a competing lower clocked but higher IPC one.
So far this hasn't happened. Time will tell about the future.
HD3000 is very weak and unable to run anything at any sort of average settings.
5770 is on the other hand a decent carf that will play most games at decent resolutions and good settings.
Simple as that. Intel's integrated graphics are not made for gaming. AMD's integrated graphics are...
download cpu-z and post a screenshot. Also download real temp and intel burn test to stress your system and report the tempertures when running the tests if your system doesnt crash.
Try to search on whether MS Flight sim uses the extra cores. If not upgrading wouldn't necessarily increase your performance.
Things that use the extra cores will however see massive increases. No need to upgrade anything else as your motherboard seems to be compatible. Be careful to look for...
It would be interesting if OCUK organised such an event itself and invited everyone to go and try it out.
I would be really interested to see the results of the forum people here!
You cant compare the ipad to graphics cards. The sales volume alone is incredibly different. Not to mention that the R&D behind it is probably lower too.
Apple is making a killing out of ipad and iphone. Their financial performance is staggering.
And so is intel, who is selling even...
Its not being beaten by 2500 across the board. Its trading blows. It even wins some against the hyperthreaded 2600.
Yes its not brilliant, no its not a total disaster for someone not overclocking.
He will need a new OS too. The mobo swap will void his OEM license.
If it was a custom built it could have supported Phenom II, but given the OEM nature i doubt that it does.
Thats the issue isnt it? Lack of competition is why Intel is sitting. Perhaps if they sit too long AMD may finally cook something that might be able to compete.
But even if they do, Intel can simply clock the chips higher or create bigger versions of its own chips.
Both Core 2, Nehalem, Sandy...
In what universe is Sandy 20% better than nehalem?
10% is generous.
Its better because its more power efficient and overclocks better. Other than that the improvements are minimal.
