    Midjourney - AI art

i've been playing around with Stable Diffusion, using the Easy Diffusion frontend. i have it locally so it runs on my GPU. it's an RTX 2060. so not the fastest, or card with the most VRAM card out there, but amongst the settings is the option to use minumum VRAM which, when using certain...

You never think you will ever get old !!!

reaching 62 later this year is a weird and disconcerting sensation, but truth be told i don't, from a mental perspective, see or act any different to my 20's. physically i'm completely hammered, but that i can deal with the few things that *seem* to keep my headspace right are still having a...

do you know why this 'no move east' comment was made? obviously not because you wouldn't be quoting it as a de facto promise it was made to Gorbachev prior to German reunification. the reason it was made was because at that time east Germany was home to the GSFG (group of soviet forces German)...

can i suggest you look up the distinct differences between a near-peer conflict and an insurgency? and whilst doing that, please take the time to look up exactly what the objectives were of the #NATO mission in Afghan (it was called as an article V response). and if those objectives have been met

i think in this situation it's important for you to look at it context: Afghan 2001 ->2021 wasn't nation building, supporting the govt. or anything else. it had a specific aim: to prevent the country becoming a haven for terrorist organisations to launch attacks against western countries. which...

    Traumazone - Russia 1985 - 1999

my thoughts exactly. the gist that was being put around in armed forces circles was that the leadership were close to bankrupting the country because of the USSR's defence spending. *allegedly* 80-90% of the GDP was being spent on defence. they had a huge presence in east Germany (GSFG) and...

    Traumazone - Russia 1985 - 1999

i'm one episode away from finishing this and it is really eye-opening. to see how badly the Soviet system was failing so drastically. from the self-shot, news clips, and other short video snips which is the format for this 7-parter really helps you understand how badly Soviet, and then the...

Strelkov (because he doesn't like the name 'Girkin' because of its western implications ;-) ) is definitely a good account to follow. purely because he is one of the few pro-Russians who aren't afraid to criticise Putin & his cabal. i think Kadyrov *may* soon join that small, but exclusive club...

top-down leadership in common parlance. and you absolutely on the button in that it is THE most inflexible method of operating ever devised. and strangely enough, it is THE Soviet/Russian tactic of the ages. and is easily broken. NATO-aligned nations have a much more junior NCO-focused style

reading elsewhere; Melitopol is the next something i read earlier today seems to sum up your position >>it's easier for someone who knows nothing about Putin's Russia to idolise it. back in the olden days it was easy for western Stalinists as well<< saying that; have you ever been to Russia as...

in fact most of the western tankies are more in denial of Russia than the Russian state TV propagandist. and the reality is that none of her tweets age very well. and if she was as open and journalistic, as is claimed above; why has she blocked everybody apart from confirmed tankies, vatniks...

i read earlier today not sure where now, but the first three Gepards are now in-country. there was initially an issue with ammunition because Germany had put them into storage. however Brazil stepped up and have offered in the region of 93,000 rounds of 35mm. which is great, but also kicks the...

    Glastonbury & the BBC.

Little Simz was the stand-out performer for me. Sigrid was another artist i enjoyed hearing, but her set back in 2019 had a bit more presence. probably because it was an outdoor set. Megan Thee Stallion wasn't bad, but the US' hiphop scene is now totally reliant on WAP-style shock lyrics...

'This is going to hurt' BBC1(tuesdays - 21:00) this is what the 'real' NHS looks and works like. Ben Whishaw and the rest of the cast are sheer brilliance. i've just finished the entire series via Iplayer, and it gets very dark, but at the same time is littered with hilarious humour.
