Thanks. So they are my options. Obviously buying another card like I have is a lot cheaper - they go for nothing on auction sites. Would I have to get an exact absolutely identical match or would any GeForce 8800 GT 512MB do? If I was to buy that flex card - (although is there nothing cheaper...

    Spec me a monitor

Hi, my Dad is getting my young brother a monitor and he asked me for some advice. He'll be using it for gaming. I have a Dell 2209WA and it's awesome, but that would be too expensive and too big for him. He wants a 19" or 20" monitor with a price tag of under 150. Can someone recommend the...

    Recommend me some memory

My current rig is below and I hope to buy Windows 7. I will be using two monitors and gaming with Flight Simulator X. The current memory is cheap and runs fine with XP. Do I need 4GB for Windows 7 or would I see improvement going for 8GB? Should I spend a bit more to get more expensive 4GB...

    Windows 7 premium or pro

Ok - thanks for that. I do find it strange that MS are offering the Pro for no extra charge. Who and why would anyone buy the premium then? Very odd.

    Windows 7 premium or pro

Ah, so the premium one can be installed on a computer with no OS and the pro one can only be installed on an computer with an existing OS. Is that correct? It is imporant I get it right! Thanks

    Windows 7 premium or pro

Can someone tell me if I pay £60 or £30 from the ultimate steal offer of MS. It says you can upgrade to pro for £30. Do I need to first buy the premium one for £30 and then buy the pro upgrade for £30? http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/ Thanks

    Multiple monitors with my rig

I intend fixing that, when I upgrade to Windows 7. XP doesn't let you stick more than 3gigs in I don't think.

    Multiple monitors with my rig

Thanks for that. I was looking at the Matrox triplehead2 as well. I think I'll just buy one more and run two monitors for now!

    New product suggestions

When you ask for something in the relevant forum, does it usually come? I have asked for several things and a week later the threads have only been viewed twice!!

    Well done folks!

Some of you will remember my 'process of elemination' thread the other day asking for a recommendation on a PSU. To all those in the thread below that suggested I should try a new PSU first in my quest to find why the computer wasn't working deserve a big pat on the back! It was indeed the PSU...

The process of elemination begins; PSU

Thanks, I'll order that one. Let's hope it is the PSU - I guess I'll have to replace the processor next if it doesn't work!

The process of elemination begins; PSU

This is my issue! PSU's just aren't as strict as processors or graphics cards in that the more you pay the better you get argument. If I buy this £60 one will it be ok to buy one of the good GTX cards later on?

The process of elemination begins; PSU

Ah that's very useful. Can someone enlarge on the benefits though of going for a £100 PSU or a £60 one?
