It doesn't matter if the Tories get the most seats. If the polls are correct there is no possible grouping for the Tories which would have a majority (i.e. Tories + Lib Dems + UKIP + DUP would not be enough). Whereas Lab + Lib Dems (with SNP, Plaid, Green not voting against) would be enough.

Well actually all the available evidence points to it! :p (The polls could be wrong though)

Go with Green. :) You don't have to worry about trident as the tories/labour with work together on that.

Voted Green. I'm in a very safe seat so didn't have to worry about tactical votes at all. Hoping Labour do well. :)

Well the problem is that the people who need the most help vote less than the people who need the least help so it doesn't balance.

Well voting tory isn't correlated with intelligence, but is with income so you're half right. This forum is also: a) more male than average (and men vote tory more than women) b) more white than average (bme's vote labour more) c) started with a conservative crowd so is naturally more...

As someone who has followed the election very closely and is very well versed on political speech, trust me on this. The SNP will not be dealing with the Tories! :p

They would, but both parties have explicitly ruled out working with each other and the SNP have said they would never vote for a Tory queen's speech.

Completely disagree. You shouldn't vote only for the party which will benefit you personally. That's completely selfish. Being brutally honest, I also think it's a bad message to send your kids. All voting selfishly does is encourage the parties to make promises which are good for certain...

For people people uncertain who to vote for today: 1. DO go and vote 2. Vote for the people you think will help everyone in society the most 3. Tell others to go vote! :)

General election voting round 5 (final one)

I believe I saw a study linking lower IQ to voting UKIP so...yes? :p Edit: Gifs are the traditional hallmark of intelligent debate.

Just some extra voting info if you don't like mass surveillance: Tory/Lab - love mass surveillance and will likely increase the powers of GCHQ Lib Dems/SNP - would increase oversight of GCHQ and are against snoopers charter Greens - strongly against mass surveillance

The rules are clear - all constitutional experts agree - it means being able to pass a queen's speech and surviving a vote of no confidence - hence 'commanding the confidence of parliament'.
  14. AGD

General election voting round 5 (final one)

Getting the most seats doesn't give you the right to govern. Similarly, a coalition formed of other parties is in no way legitimate. You have to command a majority in the house of commons. The rules are clear. If Cameron and others don't agree with how our democracy works they should pass a law...

General election voting round 5 (final one)

Lots of nonsense being banded around by Cameron about a possible Labour government lacking legitimacy. Pretty desperate really.

General election voting round 5 (final one)

Sound really bad analysis (by a completely discredited, advertiser-run newspaper I might add). If the SNP abstained on a Tory queen's speech, the Scots would never forgive them. The SNP would definitely work with a minority Labour government.
  17. AGD

General election voting round 5 (final one)

The SNP will have to back labour or risk the tories getting in. Milliband holds the power and he knows it.

Just like people who make the mistake of comparing household budgets to government budgets, you are comparing bank finances to those of nations with their own currencies. They are not the same. Krugman isn't saying 'print all the cash', 'borrow everything', he is simply suggesting (with...

The reply doesn't counter the argument that growth and unemployment are worse than they would have been without austerity. He just says that the austerity we faced hasn't led to a huge economic disaster. The two are not incompatible.

General election voting round 5 (final one)

No. The banking crisis was a banking crisis. It was not caused by high government spending. The crisis in Greece is no way comparable to what we have experienced. That is the point he was making. Krugman argues with facts and graphs. You have presented no data for your arguments.
