I've used these people for windows and have happy with them.
A friend of mine of advanced years wants a new PC.
Her needs are very simple - email, web browsing and a little word processing.
She is on a fixed income so cost is an issue.
I was wondering what would be the lowest price for a build that would fill her needs.
I'm thinking she will...
Ocuk are still showing a number of cards listed as 10+ in stock.
I can remember them selling out pretty quickly on previous gpu launches so it looks like people are voting with their feet on this one.
I'm guessing it's because of a perceived lack of value.
I'm still using my trusty...
Please don't. I couldn't care less what he has to say.
The forum has become usable again after all the infantile nonsense has been cut out. Keep it like that please !!

It's the usual fanboy idiots again. I see one has been banned recently. A few more bans for the duration of the up coming launches would be helpful to the rest of us who have to suffer and trawl through the inane rubbish.
Please Firewizard !!!!
I have 2 4890's in crossfire and find the 10.5's from the ATI site work better than any later drivers. Some people swear by 10.4a's, I think these are listed on ATI's site as 10.4's.
If I set everything as high as I can on Heaven and use dx10 I get 1243 with 2 4890's.
1920x1200, 8xAA, 16xAF using the Cat 5a's.
I've found using later drivers than the 5a's truly dreadful, Heaven score drops down to 834 with the 10.7's !
ATI seem to have really screwed crossfire with...
Snap !
I did the same a month or so ago. Unlike you I had no problems setting up the new card. I uninstalled the driver, installed the new card with two connectors and reinstalled the 10.4 driver. Hey presto it worked perfectly first time :)
For the money I don't think you can beat 2...

Until a few months ago I was using a single 4890, always installed drivers over the top and never had a problem. Before that a 4870 and a 1950, same story.
Then I installed a second 4890 and straight away got the random grass issue in BC2 although I got an amazing speed boost. It was a...
Yeah I'm running BC2 on 4890 cf. Smooth at 1900x1200 with everything on max. Slows down when there is a lot of smoke and explosions onscreen at the same time.
I also get a weird thing where clumps of grass appear in odd places. I see that is mentioned in the release notes on the 10.5 cats so...
I just added a second 4890 in crossfire and got 25977 in 3DMark06 which I was delighted with as it only cost me 100 quid or so to upgrade.
If I'd spent over 600 quid and got the score you did I would have been very disppointed.
Yep, it's a fair price at launch I reckon.
I think some people are thinking back to the 4870 launch. From memory weren't they around 250 ish and caused a rapid rethink at NV regarding their prices ?
The graphics market was a different situation back then I know but I guess some were hoping...
Hmmm, a fair price maybe but utter bargain is a bit strong.
I'm sticking with my 4890 for the time being and waiting for a while to see how things pan out, drivers, prices, DX11 etc .....
The 4890 does everthing I want atm so don't feel the need to rush out and get a 5890 despite the hype...
