OK, turns out I was an idiot.... :D The 8-pin power sockets are identical on both boards, I was being ham-fisted when I tried to plug in the new one. I'll need to order another cable for the extra 4-pin but I've read that's just for extreme overclocking and it doesn't need it for normal use...

Turning off the replay cacheing completely fixed the 'out of video memory' crash for me. One other thing I found is that if Windows pops up a message while you're playing, it'll trigger a (different) crash, so turning off the Windows Security popups as well as anything that might also try to pop...

Completely missed the ST/Amiga debate as me and all my friends had Amigas :D I had a go on an ST a few years later and from that experience I'd say the Amiga looked and sounded better, but it was just a short half-hour play.

Did a bit of playing today. It seems my second card wasn't powerful enough to handle PhysX on its own - it's faster in the Cryostasis benchmark with PhysX and graphics on the 285, rather than split between them. Not that bothered though, as it was mainly bought as a 3rd monitor output...

Just tried my new GTX285 rig today and I'm annoyed to find the card squeals. It's not a cheap PSU either, it's an 850W Zalman. I'll do a bit more testing and find out whether it's the PSU or the card squealing.
