Ordered a 13" 2.6Ghz / 16Gb / 512Mb on Wednesday through HE Discount through my uni. Dispatched and should be here on Monday :)
I used the same QuidCo trick (although using the direct link to my uni's page instead of Open University) and QuidCo have just tracked it now, so it look 3 days or...
I've been using Radio Lingua's Coffee Break German. It's a free podcast but you can upgrade to a premium version with lots of extra bits.
So far it's been superb, and believe me I've had lots of attempt to learn a language, and even after 3-4 weeks I'm still sticking with it!
Ughhh.. Was fairly set on getting a MacBook Air 13" until the rumors of the MacBook Pro refresh came out. I'm looking to replace a 15" 2009 MBP which although still runs ok, could be quicker and weighs a tonne when I'm travelling. Plus battery is 3 hours tops (no wifi).
Looks like I have no...
Spot on. If a property is furnished then you can't just pick and choose what you want. Otherwise the landlord would have to be very flexbile in terms of what storage they have on hand.
The garage is unheated, which is a problem. My idea was to maybe try it for a month, then unwrap and see...
We'll be moving in to a new rented property in a month or so, but it's a fairly small cottage-type thing which comes fairly well furnished. It's a bit too furnished annoyingly, so we were looking at storing one sofa and maybe a large wooden cabinet somewhere for the duration the tenancy (1...
Yeah well Boston is looking good so far. Especially as Boston is only an hour drive from Providence, so I'll probably fly in and out of Boston anyway..
At the start of November I'll be heading to Providence, Rhode Island for a work conference for a week, but I'm looking to tag on 3-5 days afterwards to see a one or two places. I'm guessing I'll fly out of Providence at the end of the conference and head to one of the obvious connecting...
Just wanted to check on this, I have a few plants now, each around 20cm tall now, but some are already putting out a lot of puds / flowers. I was told that it's good to pinch these all off until the plant is taller, is this still a good idea?
I'd imagine I'd let them go nuts when they hit...
I grew a few chilli plants last year (well, bought seedlings), but want to grow some more now. Is it too late to grow from seed?
If not where's best to order from? I just need seeds really as I can source the compost and pots etc. already.

Any Scientist would bend over backwards to get a top peer-reviewed publication in Nature or Science. If it was even vaguely viable it would have been published by now.
This is total tripe, like all perpetual motion machines. To the average layman these people look like respectable...
Just scouted around on the Tom Tom website and some Tom Toms don't have enough internal memory to load US maps, so I guess I have to be careful with that one. The one I listed above can't take it for example..
The GO LIVE 750 seems ok though..
Only two weeks now until we head to California for a 3 week road trip, and I wanted to get a Sat Nav to use over there to reduce the stress a little.
I want to get a Tom Tom but am completely baffled at the model ranges. I don't want to spend too much, so was thinking of getting something...
Thing is, if I was buying my car, I'd want to have a thorough test drive, on country roads, motorway and town driving. So a quick spin around the industrial estate would be totally unacceptable.
I think I'll have to go with Peerzy's suggestion, passenger seat ride only, unless they sort out...
Ok looks like nobody will touch it for short term insurance.. I guess buyers will either have to sit in the passenger seat then! That or I take a gamble..
Just tried Day insure, they say "The vehicle has been identified as 'PORSCHE BOXSTER S Cabriolet 3387cc, 2dr Petrol Manual (06-09)' and unfortunately we are unable to offer insurance for this vehicle"
Will look for an alternative..
Will be selling my Boxster S over the next couple of weeks and obviously need to arrange for buyer test drives. However I'm a bit concerned about insurance.
Quite often their insurance will cover driving another car with the buyer's permission but only 3rd party cover. My nightmare scenario...
Thing I like about the Lumix is the extra wide angle. 24mm vs 28mm for the Canon S95. The extra 4mm will help a lot for wide open spaces. So that's tempting.. But I do like the idea of the S95 being better suited to low light conditions etc..
I'll be taking my SLR as well, but it'll be used...
Off to the US for 3 week driving holiday around California in September, and I'm looking to upgrade my compact camera (a little Canon IXUS) for when out and about.
I tried taking my SLR out in the Lake District as a test, and it was too bulky for me as I like to hike with as little on my...
