What "man jobs" have you done today?

Better to get a heated towel radiator with electric element and turn it on 90 minutes before having a shower so it warms the room will lessen the condensation a lot then. Extractor fan still has its place obviously.

    Impact noise from neighbours

If you were to drill 10mm holes into the plasterboard you could easily fill the voids with expanding foam. A bit unorthodox but it would work in theory. It wouldn't be difficult to filler over either as it adheres well to foam.

    Mortgage Rate Rises

If mortgage defaults in America were the precursor to the 2008 financial crash, aren't we in danger of repeating the past if interest rates climb higher, here in the UK at least. Are governments/banks concerned by this or not?

Is my portable air con broken?

https://youtu.be/_-mBeYC2KGc Portable units tend to run hot due to their flawed design. Better to invest in a split AC system.

Titanic submersible confirmed destroyed with loss of all five souls onboard.

What were the advantages of the carbon fibre hull over other tried and tested designs? Would the cylindrical shape not have been possible constructed from Titanium, or have been prohibitively expensive?

Titanic submersible confirmed destroyed with loss of all five souls onboard.

The distance and size of the debris field away from the Titanic suggests it happened higher up than on the sea bed. My question would be did the glue seam bonding the titanium rings to the carbon fibre fail, as the two materials would compress differently.

Titanic submersible confirmed destroyed with loss of all five souls onboard.

Stockton Rush talks here about a hydraulic pump inside that connects outside the sub to release ballast. So there must have been at least one entry point. https://youtu.be/uD5SUDFE6CA from 21:15

Might have been an idea to dive in pairs so they could monitor eachother.

Anyone bank with Nationwide. Check your inbox!

Pleasantly surprised by this also. I've kept my mortgage with Nationwide since taking it out, will probably see it through to the end with them.

Premium Bonds - If you post to say how much you've won, please also say how much you have invested.

I read recently though somebody managed to hold more than £50k somehow and ended up winning on the bonds above the limit, but NS&I disqualified those prizes, not sure how that happened.

    Split Air con

Well that in itself is barking mad, propane being highly flamable and explosive. Yet they don't permit individuals to work on R32, which is flamable but much less so. (Yes I know it's more to do with the Ozone depleting aspects of the refrigerant).

    Split Air con

How were you able to order it? I enquired not long ago and they said they need evidence of a F-gas certificate from the installer. It must be hurting their sales as they were quite DIY friendly before, providing howto instructions, and even offering to rent out a vacuum pump. I think you could...

    Biker's Cafe Chatroom

Does anybody have any tips on a private bike sale? I'm looking at this Kawasaki ZX6R (2019) from a seller not too far away. I've no doubt the bike is well looked after etc only 2800 miles, been garaged etc My concern is payment, I don't have an issue with bank transfer but if for any reason...

    Credit card... credit?

I took out 7 cards in the space of 3 months for stoozing purposes, the CC companies don't seem to care if your credit rating is good. It comes down more to how you manage your finances and your income which determines if they'll lend to you.

    Doctors appointments .

I'm interested in getting private medical insurance, but I'm put off by the idea of using it and them bumping up the premiums at renewal to a ridiculous sum. Does anybody have it, and not from a benefit through work?

KEF Q150 bass port plug disappeared inside

Yeah it was only ever a temporary thing, but I didn't expect the sound to change that dramatically, sort of akin to playing MP3s at 192kbps Vs 320kbps you can't really discern much of a difference (more to do with how the codec operates probably), but clearly if you feed the amp/speakers with an...

KEF Q150 bass port plug disappeared inside

Well luckily I managed to fish the foam plug out with a pair of long nose pliers wrapped in masking tape so as not to scratch the bass port. I have recently acquired the Wiim Pro streamer, and boy what a difference that makes. Before I was streaming music via Bluetooth from my phone. With the...
