The "real solution" is to build new housing (doesn't have to be houses, can be high density apartments).
The problem is that no government (central or local) in recent memory seems to be interested in real solutions.
In the Banking sector it's two things that stop remote work in other countries:
1) financial regulations/ licensing - this is the reason that I can only work in a country where my company (bank) has an office

According to the above, the UK and Norway total oil + gas reserves should be about equal (since they are both in the North Sea).
Norway is a good example of clever governments.
They took the money they made from oil, and invested it smartly via their sovereign wealth fund.
