yeah RoTR release was a great one for amd users, some stuttering but with 16.1.1 its totally gone, so no big issues my 7970 is running great on high preset :D around 40-60fps @ 1080p on a ~3 weeks old drivers and runs better now on 16.1.1 it seems that developers that develop their own hair...

yes, any ATI or NVIDIA card will work in any PCIe x16 slot, atm you should go for a HD 5770 or a HD 5850, best bang for buck/performance :) good luck dont forget to uninstall nvidia graphics driver and meybe chipset drivers and then install them after you have installed ati drivers :)
