Seems likely it's not a disk problem now. Just hooked up the main hdd from another computer and it wont boot from that either. It either goes to a blank screen after getting past the place it was hung before, or says "A disk read error has occurred". Sound like a problem with the motherboard?

As i said, i used the recovery console (by booting from xp disk) and tried /fixmbr and /fixboot (and chkdsk which came back ok). Is there something else that can be done from there?

With a game like this where there is constant action going on around you, you want a pretty high FOV. The only real advantage of lower FOV is that it is a bit easier to aim at enemies in the distance, but since there are not all that many hitscan weapons that need pinpoint accuracy in TF2...

Get the PC version. This is a game that will be a lot better to play with mouse and keyboard. Plus your rig should run it fine if it can run Fallout 3.

Somewhat. In that you'll have the different zones where you can either follow the main story thread or go off to do sidequests. I expect the sidequest parts will be much more involving in this game though as I believe if you do them all the game clocks in at well over 100 hours.

What res are you running at? Can get around 25-30fps on 1280x960 with most settings on high here with a crappy 3650 which is worse than a 8800GT.
