    **British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

Not heard anything about the RM being allowed beards. Regardless, "To all serving within His Majesties Royal Marines" looks dodgy. It should be His Majesty's.

    **British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

I don't really have a problem with beards, they can still look smart. In phase 1 training at BRNC they were reasonably strict with what beards looked like and everyone looked smart. Still have to look presentable after training as you do in all respects, so I don't think there will be people...

The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

I've been dithering and they've offered me a 7900 XT Tuf instead, which seems a very decent model albeit huge. Unfortunately it seems many reviews note horrible coil whine, something I'm very grateful my last card didn't have, having had some horrors! I guess I could just try it and sell it on...

The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

Does anyone have any experience of the Gigabyte 7900 XT Gaming OC? Been offered it as a RMA replacement for a RX6950XT reference (or a partial refund, or a 7900 GRE when in stock). The 6950XT was near silent, but I can't find much about the Gigabyte 7900XT and my only experience of a...

    YouFibre

I think I'll go for the gigabit connection. When I looked the other day, it was £30.99 p/m but it seems to have dropped to £29.99, which is only £2 more than 500 even if the extra speed will be rarely utilised.

    YouFibre

I can't decide whether to go for the 500 or 1000mbit connection (with 10% off). The difference in cost is so small it seems silly not to go for the full gigabit connection, but at the same time only my desktop is connected by ethernet, everything else is connected by WiFi and there's only 3-4...

    YouFibre

Thank you, didn't see that on their site. From what I can see there shouldn't be any issue with us continuing to use our existing router too. It's fairly recent and I'm happy with it's performance. Looks like they provide an Eero thing with only two ethernet ports, so I'd end up needing a...

    YouFibre

Recently been told youfibre is now available to us. Very tempted as we can only get FTTC otherwise, which is much slower for a similar price. Do they still offer to buy you out of contracts? Still got nearly a year left on our FTTC unfortunately.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (fallen order sequel)

Fingers crossed it seems to be running smoothly for me (90fps, stutter is rare) on a 7800X3D + RX6800. Using 1440p, epic, RT off, FSR Quality (switching FSR off results in around 65fps though it's still quite smooth). Based on the reviews and my experience of Fallen Order I thought it was going...

    Ryzen 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7800X3D

I've not touched anything in the BIOS except for switching on EXPO and disabling the iGPU. I've only had Intel for so long, I don't really know what I'm doing with AMD so have left it all at default... Everything seems to be running fine without those drivers installed though.

    Ryzen 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7800X3D

Just switched to a 7800X3D from ~20 years of Intel. When I install the AMD chipset drivers it's installing the PPM and v-cache optimization drivers with it: are these actually needed on a single CCD model like the 7800?

    Maritime jobs

Royal Fleet Auxiliary maybe? They are a civilian branch of the MoD which provide supplies and support for the Royal Navy. Unlike the RN, I don't think there's an upper age limit to join.

Looks like it's the May driver but now with a WHQL stamp on it.

    ***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Had that several times too and the box has even been punctured, although they did give partial refunds on those occasions.

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

I've registered the same finger twice, but it still doesn't work often. Just getting my fingers to register is proving problematic, I think they might be too dry or something. Just applied a Spigen glass screen protector which probably can't make the fingerprint reader any worse anyway! As...

What version of Android are you currently on?

Android 12 on a Pixel 6, having just come from 11 on a Pixel 2. Android 12 works fine and does its job, but it doesn't seem better than 11 for me (possibly worse in places) and it's not an especially attractive UI - preferred previous versions.

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

I went for a cheap-ish Spigen case as I found some more ONS vouchers to use. Hopefully it'll be ok. Enjoying the P6, although the finger print reader is even worse than I had expected. Works perhaps 1 in 5 attempts - maybe it doesn't like something on my hands.

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

Seems quite good so far. Took 2 hrs to set up though! A slight green tinge towards the top of the screen perhaps, but it's not that bad. I think getting used to Android 12 will be the biggest challenge, it's quite different to 11. Already used to the larger size and I think my eyes are...

Google's own cases look pretty naff to me...

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

I'm not sure yet. Not intending to copy you, but the case you linked looks pretty good! I'll have to look around - I hate bulky cases, so want to find something that is reasonably thin whilst giving a little protection.
