Is this coil whine? Corsair HX650w

£150 tops. Obviously the lower cost the better, but I’m realistic as I like to buy quality parts that will last. 650W seems to be doing the trick currently (ignoring the noise), but I don’t know if I’d be better off getting a 750 instead. Currently running an 8700k CPU and an RTX 3060Ti. Might...

Is this coil whine? Corsair HX650w

No, only the one GPU. But I unplugged the 8 pin cable from it and the noise persisted. Also, less scientific, I put my head in the case (safely-ish) and I’m 90% sure the noise is coming from the PSU.

Is this coil whine? Corsair HX650w

My PC has recently begun making a high pitched, pulsing whine that fades in and out intermittently. I’m pretty certain that it’s coming from the power supply, as I’ve unplugged the GPU (RTX 3060 TI) and the sound persists. It doesn’t seem to be load-related as it’s as likely to make the sound...

Steam Workshop allowing creators to charge for mods

I have nothing against the premise of rewarding modders for their hard work, but this move will destroy the modding community. With the new version of Wet and Cold not being published on Nexus, this move already looks set to divide the community and create a lot of bad blood. It wouldn't be so...

Decent: Underground kickstarter (ex star citizen devs)

Glad someone posted about this. I've backed for what it's worth. I enjoyed descent back in the day, but more than that I really like Eric, Rob and Michael. SC wouldn't be where it is today without them (plus they seem like a nice bunch).

Singularity It kind of went a bit under the radar, but it's a very well put together game.

    Candyswipe vs. King.com

It's not often I'm driven to post by the actions of gaming companies. As a PC gamer I'm used to questionable moves by companies such as EA, Activision or Ubisoft, but King.com, creators of CandyCrush have taken the biscuit. Firstly, a bit of background. Before CandyCrush, the bafflingly...

*** The iPad Air thread ***

Maybe that's the problem. I like the old form factor. In fact, all I want is the new hardware under the hood of the air. My ideal iPad would be air innards, 4 outards.

*** The iPad Air thread ***

It's a combination of things. Firstly, the screen feels cheap; plasticky. The previous generations had much sturdier glass that, to the touch, just felt 'better' in terms of quality. I've not treated my 3 as well as I should have, and I've never used a screen protector, but a year and a half...

*** The iPad Air thread ***

Well, I tried the air a second time, still didn't like it, and bought an ipad 4 instead. It's still much faster than the 3 and the build quality is (IMO) much better. Hopefully the air '2' will address some of the '1's' shortcomings.

*** The iPad Air thread ***

Well after trying out an air in a retailer named after an Indian food, I'm not overly impressed. The screen was even bendier than I feared. Maybe I'm heavy handed, but there was noticeable deformation with anything more than a quick tap. The fact you can bend it enough to touch the LCD is also a...

*** The iPad Air thread ***

Well the durability of the 3-4 series is top-notch so I guess I'll have to try one in the flesh to see the difference. I can save £60 by getting the 64gb 4 over the 64gb air, but I don't want to be kicking myself in a year's time for getting the slower of the two.

*** The iPad Air thread ***

Thinking about giving my iPad3 to the mother-in-law for her birthday (her macbook's just died), in order to get the thumbs up for a cheeky upgrade from the missus. The air sounds like a good upgrade but I've heard bad things about the screen glass being flimsy/spongy. Can any owners here give...

**** CRAZIEST PRE-ORDER SPECIAL EVER! MSI GTX 670 POWER EDITION ONLY £199.99 Inc. VAT!!!! *****

Hmmm, I think I need a third-party sanity check. I currently have a 2gb 6950 r1 with unlocked shaders. I was thinking about getting 2 of these to replace it but if I'm honest with myself, I could probably hold out until next year for an upgrade without any real discomfort. Should I snap...

Games where you build up a company/business? (Not tycoon type games)

If you don't mind trading roads for the water, and you don't mind dated/minimalistic graphics, Ports of Call XXL is very good. It's a sequel to the old Amiga classic which has you running a Shipping Company and controlling your ships. http://www.portsofcall.de/xxl/index.html There's even a 3D...
