Thanks, but that looks a lot like wading through treacle. What do you know about svchost.exe? If it's not showing in processes could that be why updates aren't working?

Every failed update has the same error as far as I can see: code 80072EFD I've tried the firewall fixes etc, cleaned out reg with cc cleaner and others.

Update: I ran the windows mem diagnostic, no problems there. Running the HD tool reccomended. HD is fine. Prime is fine.

Bit concerned as despite the reformat and fresh install many windows updates failed to install. Still downloading clod, we'll see what happens.

Same problem with Bioshock 2, WL totally ruined it, unplayable. Totally unsaveable, the updates don't work either, complete disaster. £13 wasted - bugger steam I could have sold on a hard copy.
