Did exactly this over the last couple of weeks. Really nice of them, they've backdated my bill for this month to the date I requested the tracker, rather than the date I actually got switched over. Saving a significant amount per day now.

What difference do you notice between the two? Are you getting better speeds on unifi, more reliable WiFi coverage, or more power user specialist stuff to play with like VLANs and firewalls and things?

Yes, for most routers you can disable the routing functions of it and use it in "access point" mode which should be what you're after. WiFi extenders tend to just be repeaters and not as effective. Ensure the SSIDs are the same.
