Change to MM access after 1st January 2024

It's easy to post that number, sure -- but I *strongly* believe you're misusing the word "contribute" ;)

    Sod it I'm buying a 4080

Wait... what? What decade are we in? Did I time travel in my sleep? Am I a wizard?! OMG IM A WIZARD!

    Sod it I'm buying a 4080

Wait... what have they blown exactly? You get 4080 performance for $2-300 less; and that's on release drivers -- everyone knows AMD cards go up in performance (see 6000 series vs 3000 series release performance vs current, AMD cards moved up the line significantly).... Sounds like you just...

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Ah ok gotcha. Nice addition of being able to toggle ECC -- didn't know about that. :D Being able to OC the mem by a gig though... pretty insane

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

While I've not got a 40x0 card to test on; I'm fairly certain your memory OC is actually doing more harm than good. If memory serves (pun not intended) the VRAM is error correcting, so you can force obscene clocks and it won't really crash - but it has to do a lot more work to correct for the...

Any reviews that compare real world differences?

Fair enough; it was unclear to me I guess

Any reviews that compare real world differences?

My comments were more to quash the notion that rendering more frames than the screen can display is without use. Some folk will take it to heart ;)

Any reviews that compare real world differences?

I didn't miss it, but you're simultaneously agreeing with Rare that there's no point to higher refresh and also agreeing the opposite by conceding that it improves responsiveness. So.... Regardless of whether you think it's worth it or not, you asked what the point was (implying there wasn't...

Any reviews that compare real world differences?

No nail on no head. Regardless of what display you're using, there's often benefits to running a higher framerate - namely in the game's responsiveness. For an easy example/test; you can quite easily tell the difference on a game locked to 30, then locked to 60 -- the game *feels* less sluggish...

    R08ST ME

Compared to the 3080, it's like 50% faster for 70% more money... I'm not sure how that makes a solid purchase?

Uninformed? It's the standard these days, unfortunately :p

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

They shouldn't have been more than £650 (give or take a little for industrial factors); it's a generational replacement (not a higher tier, as nVidia seem to be thinking/charging for) for the 3080 and thus should be in the same price bracket. That's how generations work....

Yeah... answered my question but not in the way you think it did ;)

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Wait... how are you increasing voltage without increasing power? Did physics suddenly stop being physics with the 40x0 series?

World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

It'll be plenty - my 3080's doing absolutely fine at it

World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I echo this... my eyes practically melt if I turn HDR on for general use, it's quite straining.. also probably not good for the life of the monitor :p

World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Yup, I can't hear a peep from my monitor - even with my ear close to it it's just a barely audible fzzzzzzzz of the fan; even with my PC off (which makes the most ambient noise) at normal seated distance I can't hear the monitor. Guess we won the fan lottery?
