    PVR/DVR Build advice

Our tv is somewhat old, so the idea is to build something and replace the SMART features which are not longer supported on the TV, with a single box that does it all. I just find it difficult to comprehend why this would be so difficult to achieve - android boxes do a reasonably good job of...

    PVR/DVR Build advice

it's the FVP-5000T 500gb version Since ITV X, we've lost access to their player, so the wife can't do her Corrie catch-up (so she switches to the laptop), plus the media player cannot play PLEX content. Not sure why as it *used* to work. I've tried enabling and disabling DLNA and gone through...

    PVR/DVR Build advice

You reminded me - I've found my FLIRC Usb, still in it's box in the drawer :) Plex has a solution for EPG, but it installs on the server and is very clunky, so hence the "it must record and play LOCALLY". We've invested in an HD homerun as, at that time, it was the only one that was certified...

Hi, Long time lurker, looking for some advise and suport. I'm going round and round looking for inspiration and direction, but coming up short. Some background: I've got a home full of old PC parts, and I've found myself moving away from PC gaming due to time commitments & work over the past...

    Ubershed project!

great little project write-up. Am building a small garage for my bike(s) which I'd also like to use as a workshop for my woodworking, and this is very helpful to see the different elements of your build. Great stuff.

Anyone slightly nervous about going red?

Have been with the blue team since my X2 4200 all those years ago ( was it really 2006????) until recently when I switched back over to the Red side with my 3900X.... Initially, I was very underwhelmed, but then I watched the Jaz2Cents tutorial on Youtube and set the voltages of the core...

    3900X AIO or Air

...just make sure you set the voltages in your BIOS. I was so disappointed with mine until I saw Jayz2Cents' video about the silly high voltages that it demands at stock. Once I'd implemented that, the wraith was sufficient, however, I'm now on a custom Loop (FAT 480rad with 8x120mm fans in...

pc for my wife - budget

I think she'd be more concerned that you're posting on the Overclockers forum under a heading that seems to imply that you're going to trade her for a PC :D

Is it worth paying an extra £10 for 3600mhz RAM over 3200Mhz?

I would say so if it is a Ryzen build. As long as you've also got enough of it to futureproof yourself until the move to DDR5, and it's fast enough, it could well do the job with the Ryzen 4* series (assuming you dont have to do a platform upgrade)

    Project - 37a (Wendyhouse)

STILL subbed ;) Great project. Loving the direction, especially the conversation re: 10Gbe. I've bought (and fitted) 2x 10gb cards with rj45 sockets on them. trying to eek the last bit of performance out of my cat5e wired lan before I have to rip it all out to upgrade. Next is the...

NVIDIA RTX PRICE DROP: THEY ARE COMING DOWN!!

Not going to be buying a 2080 ti until ones with a waterbock on them come down. The release models failing has put me off buying as usually removing the stock heatsink invalidates the warranty and if the card fails for other reasons... When the waterblocked models come down to <£1000 then I'll...
