    Touch Up or Full Respray

Thanks all, took another look and can confirm it is ever so slightly dented too, so looks like its a bodyshop job. Had the car 3 weeks. Awesome.

    Touch Up or Full Respray

Had a moment today, managed to graze drivers side down the side of brick wall while reversing onto my drive in what can only be described as a moment of sheer driving prowess. Been ages since I've done anything like this - are we looking at a touch up or a full respray?

    Massive Car insurance costs?

They do not. Infact having a renewal around November / December is probably the best time of year as this when a lot of the big insurers go policy chasing, actively lowering prices compared to prior months in order to hit customer aquisition targets.

    This Business and Moment...

I'm going to launch my toys out of the pram next week. For the last 7 months I've been recruiting for a role in my team, its been a nightmare to fill as it requires a niche skillset that you don't usually see (crossover with actuarial and finance) In the end we had an internal applicant...

    Official Home Gym Building Thread

Carpet tiles might not be a bad idea, hard wearing for the general office use. Theoretically, if I were to carpet tile the whole floor for now, under where the functional trainer is going and then when the full rack is in I could lay proper 40mm matting on top of the carpet for that section...

    Official Home Gym Building Thread

Construction has (finally !) started on my home gym / office outbuilding. Building will be 50% gym / 50% office for the next 6 - 12 months until the house renovation is completed, at which point it will convert to a full gym space. I'm thinking of laying down proper gym flooring upfront while...

Anyone seeing car insurance pricing increases?

Easy, look at the year on year financial results of Admiral, Direct Line, Hastings, Sabre and anybody else you can think of. 2022 was an absolute blood bath for UK Motor, some weathered it better than others but the market went into this year significantly underpriced. Everybody was expecting...

Possible EV lease car options - what would you choose?

Been looking at options through a work scheme and arrived at similar options to you, having seen all the options in person I'm leaning heavily towards the Q8 - although without the stupid video mirrors.

Can you negotiate a golden hello to cover your lost bonus / share options? At your sort of level we'll buy people out of things like that for the right candidate, this often runs well into six figures

    Samsung Odyssey G9 Stand

I have a very sturdy solid wood butchers block desk so my experience may be different to others, but unless I give the desk a significant whack the arm doesn't move. Obviously that is a very expensive arm, so again if you have a cheaper one you might experience some wobble.

    Samsung Odyssey G9 Stand

I have that exact mount for my G9 and it works flawlessly, back when I ordered I also had to get the heavy duty pivot but that looks to be included as standard now. You will also need to get a VESA adapter that fits into the circle cut out on the back of the monitor to make it VESA...

    Split Air con

Need to consider an airconditioning solution for a garden office I'm having built - c60m3 volume, so I'm guessing around 12000 BTU, needs to also be capable of heating during the winter months. Google has been relatively helpful, but would appreciate being pointed in the right direction by...

    Thoughts on Excessive Speed

100 mph used to be my cruising speed on motorways around 10 years ago. Younger, invincibility complex and over familiarity with the routes I'd regularly drive were the cause. Didn't matter what the driving conditions were, if I wasn't doing 100 I'd be raging at the person holding me up. I've...

    This Business and Moment...

From what I understand from your postings here, you're at a senior enough level now that money isn't the main factor when considering a role change (unless we're talking buckets of it) - so I guess its just weighing up the development opportunity and prospects vs the time investment. A 4 and a...

So my plans have hit a bit of a snag, the person I was lining up to bring into my team as my deputy has turned the role down. Personal reasons, completely understand where they're coming from and I think its the right choice at the moment... Leaves me absolutely stuffed though. There is nobody...

Well that didn't take long, revised salary was offered to me verbally today and will be in writing by next week. Bang in line with my expectations, no complaints from me, I should be in the role in a couple of weeks. Never had something go so smoothly.

Thats quite a gap between expectation and offer. Always worth doing a search for similar job roles and being able to illustrate external benchmarks. This is the stage I'm at with my one, I'm going for a role that is Head of X and Y and I've been able to find comparitive Head of X roles in line...

Seems we're in a similar spot, whats your plan on the pay situation? You going to hold firm on your asking or would you consider taking the role and hoping for a future pay bump?

Work came back to me with the 'absolute maximum' salary offer for the new role, £15k below the minimum I'd want to accept it. Luckily I have a close relationship with the director looking to make the change and we are friends outside of work or my immediate reaction of 'hah, get ****ed' could...
