I've seen blame laid at the door of the developers here, and I'd like to speak up in their favour. The final decision is out of their hands and purely up to quality control and management.

This might sound weird, but you'll probably be best off getting a Commodore 64 emulator like CCS or WinVice and some educational games for it. The C64 was awash with what you're looking for. Just right for a 4-year-old. I could help out with some of those.

I'd also say RimWorld. I find Oxygen not Included quite overwhelming, but it's probably good if you're into that sort of difficulty level right from the get go. Otherwise I'd also strongly recommend Prison Architect.

This might be a long shot, but older NMS versions put shader files into the directory: [NMS Install Dir]\GAMEDATA\SHADERCACHE. This is not the case any more, but if there are any files in that directory, it might help to delete them.
