    SSD worth it ?

I just got 2 x Corsair Force 40GB drives in raid 0. I get 550 mb/s read and write. It gives me 74.4GB, after installing the OS and every game I play I have 20GB free. You don't need a huge amount of space if you also have high capacity mechanical drives.

Worth upgrading to a quad core?

I think it is. Lots of games coming out now support more than 2 cores. I recently went from an E8600 @ 4.4GHz to a Q9650 @ 4.05GHz and there is a definite improvement.

    i5 760: 2 x 16x pcie 2.0?

The intel spec sheet for this CPU says that it can run one card at 16x or two at 8x. The motherboard I'm looking at supports multiple cards simultaneously at 16x. Anyone care to let me know if I can run both my cards at 16x with this cpu?

Which 1TB internal HD should I purchase?

I need a new hard drive for my main computer, I intend to get one with a capacity of 1 TB. It will be the primary HD with windows and programs installed on it. Which of these listed below would you recommend? I'll briefly comment on each. Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM...

    3 options. (E8600, Q9650, i7 920)

Unfortunately these quads are not cheap on ebay, I've been watching for a while and the price is rising. Over 200 for a new Q9650 and 170+ for a new Q9550. Makes me wonder if I should move quickly and grab one before they are even more hard to come by. I imagine anyone trying to upgrade a...

    3 options. (E8600, Q9650, i7 920)

I appreciate the responses thanks. I've recently run into a couple games that would benefit from the quad. Dragon Age Origins and Dawn of War 2. My machine is for gaming, I told myself when the games I wanted to play needed a quad I would get one. It is a lot of money to spend for 1-2 games...

    3 options. (E8600, Q9650, i7 920)

My computer is in my sig. I bought it in oct/nov 2008. should I... a) Keep current system longer (E8600 @ 4.44ghz) (£0) b) Buy Q9650 and oc to 4+ ghz (£215) c) Buy core i7 920 d0, mobo, ram, cpu cooler (£600) I may be able to afford b now, c would take some time to save for.

Been hiding in my C2D cave for too long

My system is similar to yours and I've been trying to decide when I should next upgrade. E8600 @ 4.44 at the moment though it can go higher. The computer is primarily for gaming which should be considered. I am tempted by the Q9650

    E8600 to a Q9550

I've been considering a similar upgrade. E8600 to Q9650. PC spec in sig. It would cost me £180, I don't know if I could sell my E8600 either. I'm thinking it is a waste of money and that my current machine could last another year before I replace anything or do a new build entirely.

    Samsung N510

I'm running windows 7 with the 1GB it comes with and it runs great so far, almost considering not getting the 2GB that I thought I would require.
