As a current student at uni, I hope to God this doesn't happen.
I'm a Physics and Maths student at a Russell group uni and the cheapest rent I could get for next year is £420 a month, not including bills. I receive the full tuition loan and grants. My dad is a factory worker and my mum is on...
So many conflicting opinions but I really appreciate them all. I suppose that it all depends on how these are taught and whether or not I'll be actually doing a lot of sparring rather than prancing about and acting :p. I'll be asking the instructors a lot of questions about how they teach and...
I have already been taught this by my ever so experienced father who has been in quite a few scuffles in his time :D don't worry, I'd just like to be prepared if I ever need to. I will never expect to injure someone seriously.
Thank you and I can get where you're coming from as I reread my...
:D
The presonal trainer will only be around for summer, mainly to help me with my routine.
Definitely bearing this in mind. I'll have freshers week to pretty much to try them all and see which ones are a bit faff.
Heard quite a bit about this lady, seems very tough and deadly! How...
I'll be buying a uni gym membership as it is compulsory to do to use the facilities.. which is also what some of these martial arts groups do :( as for protein shakes I will most likely just make my own. we have a few tubs of protein powder from when my dad and brother worked out for a while.
I...
Hello all :D
After prancing about in a bunch of silly university societies in my first year and putting off getting fit and healthy for the longest time, I've decided to hire a personal trainer for summer and buy a whole year's worth of Gym membership to make sure I don't turn back this time...
As a student, Smith & Jones does wonders for me. Managed to get 2 pairs for £30 :D can't really complain about the colour or style or anything.
Then I bought another for £20 (can't remember the brand..)
On the search for a nice jet black pair of jeans now :)
If the service is quite good (once the waitress in Pizza Hut managed to get a replacement pizza for us after it wasn't cooked and we'd already eaten half of it) I usually tip with the change, like giving £25 to pay £22 and letting her keep the rest :)
Just bought that Kalamazoo stuff from Lush and the nice lady gave me a small free sample of R&B hair moisturiser.
Very nice stuff but cor blimey is it expensive. £6.50 for a 110g of soap and £11.50 for 100g of moisturiser! :o
Been growing mine for like 8 weeks now, but I'm curious as the difference between beard oil and soap?
Soap is just used for cleanliness but don't many oils also do that?
Why aren't beard oils available on the high street yet? :o
Better than nothing, as I have no work experience or anything to prove I actually know anything about the financial world. Most IB internships wouldn't take me on at this point.
Thanks everyone, I'll be doing a lot more research in the future and just trying to setup a placement in a general finance sector for now, i.e. accounting firms or small banks. :)
That does sound more attractive since I am mathematically inclined :p but it sounds derivative trading and being a quant both require PhDs?
I think I'll be looking at the route of getting a Msc and then some experience in some statistical or other finance roles, then trying to wiggle my way in?
I'm just thinking about it, since I have a load of options to me and of course I would like to make some money, but I wouldn't sell my soul for it. Just exploring my options :)
How would you compare the two jobs? What is your daily schedule like?
That would actually be my only reason to not continue with an Msc here, is that I could go onto Oxbridge or Imperial which have very nice courses on the areas of my degree.
Yeah becoming an actuary has quite a few exams to...
Thanks for the all the suggestions guys!
I do mean Investment Banking as in the whole area and the various roles, but i know that one often starts from analyst and moves their way up.
It's just something that I'm looking into and it does look tough, but also incredibly reward as I'm sure you...
Just wondering about what it's like to be an investment banker, from analyst to associate, and what advice you would give to someone who is interested in the career? How would one get their foot in the door? Most important qualities or what exactly I should be nailing on my applications to...
