All this kind of gubbins that you can argue does work is still ultimately chasing law of diminishing returns when the primary limiting factor in audio quality is the mechanical aspect of an audio system; the loudspeakers themselves. Do yourself a favour and concentrate buying better speakers...
Finally found a PMC CB6i to match my PB1i, unfortunately it was the wrong colour but given their rarity I couldn't say no. For now I've wrapped it in an oak vinyl wrap, so it's less of an draw to the eye. Sounds fantastic now, the front array is beautifully balanced :)
Whilst what you’ve written is correct, Mr Foxes guitar is talking to the amp head via rj45. It’s a Line6 digital system. The output from the amp to pa is balanced - so cable will make very little difference. :)
Depends how you quantify better. Stronger, longer lasting? Yes. Sound better? Only if the current cables are broken. Better screening? Not really if balanced. :)
That sort of system is how bigger digital live consoles have been working for years - nice to see it finally trickling down into more affordable gear. Can it plug in to Wi-Fi and have a mic poo t via iPad? That was a game changer - being able to have someone on stage running monitors via this...
What the sliders look like has absolutely no impact on anything worth worrying about. You need to set your channel gain appropriately. Start with the fader all the way flat and start from the top of the channel strip down. Dial in some gain to the point where the channel is seeing good signal...
Yeah that’s pretty common to be honest. It’s that region that really separates the men from the boys with regards to monitoring, most 2-way ported boxes end up with a lot of colouration and resonance, and that’s before we get to room issues. Easy fix is get some room measurements and treatment...
Few small changes, mostly to the room itself, but I also picked up some PMC PB1i a while back. Moved the old FB1i to the rears now the kids are older and have retired the wall mounted DB1i rears. Need to find a better amp for the front pair, these things love to be driven to say the least...
Had the pleasure a while back of auditioning some PMC QB1 XBD-A

Absolutely insane bits of kit. Had to go listen to AM radio for an hour to re-calibrate my ears afterwards :D
Had a quick go on the open beta. Really enjoyed it but it's not without issues. The user interface for menus etc is waaaaaaaaay too complicated. Virtually needs a day just to get your head around where everything is!
I like the option of slower play and whilst it's still very much a twitch...
The Condor has been heavily, heavily nerfed compared to days gone by. The 50mm cannon has had splash damage near removed, and the reload time on it is horrific. It's a tough thing to take down if a couple of guys are sat in the back repairing, but if not it doesn't take too many rockets to down.
