Thanks guys. The weekend deal of the 5900x sealed all dilemma. I went for AMD as I wanted to use SAM with my 6900XT. The price difference between the 10850k and the 5900x due to the offer was around £100. I know that £100 is not by any means small but I think it was worth the extra.

Just got my 5900x and coming from a 5930k. Waiting for the motherboard which is torture.

Hmmm wonder if the Red Devil Ultimate is worth the extra £ compared to the regular Red Devil.

Looks like you tried everything from CMOS reset, reseating GPU etc so it must be the GPU as you said. I have found that motherboards especially mid to high end ones last for ages as long as you don't do a Linus and drop it.

My 1080ti also did that and then completely died. (No signal). Tried everything from different PC, PSU etc but its the GPU. I understand its a horrible situation to be in.

Not fussed about Ray Tracing or DLSS. Although I do admit DLSS is nice to have but can live without it.

Yeah new gen are nice but if its DDR5 as leaks suggest then I am not going to make another mistake and pay early adopter price and deal with the dreadful compatibility. X99 gave me enough grief. EDIT: Finally 200 posts lol

I just tested GRWL for my new GPU which the game is not modern anymore and I saw it using 7.2GB of VRAM. Not sure how resolutions affect VRAM as I am running it at 5120 x 1440 which is close to 4K. I think modern AAA games will need more than 8GB.

Cheers. I am glad I went with the GPU than a prebuild as the 5900x is on sale so I can actually save money buying them seperately than a prebuild. GPU is so quiet and runs so cool it kind of makes me question the point of watercooling it.
