    currently have CMD4GX3M2B1600C8, need match

Hi Guys. As the title states, i currently have a set of CMD4GX3M2B1600C8. Corsair Dominator XMS3 1600Mhz 4GB dual channel DDR3. I want to match this to get up to 8GB easily, but this model doesn't appear to be made any more. I've discovered that there's a very similar part, CMP4GX3M2B1600C8...

What Psu to run a hd5870

yes, you do need to upgrade it. 350 is on the limit of what your pc will be drawing at max load. Get a 500-600W from a decent make, and you'll be fine. Corsair are very good. Hiper do indeed explode, and often take other components with it, so get rid of that thing.

    5850 Memory Idle

Ahh thanks guys. i can live with it being super fast memory all the time... just gonna have to replace the card in... hang on a second, it'll be replaced in a year anyway, so who cares about lower life expectancy? cheers.

    5850 Memory Idle

Hi all. So. I'm running a 5850 with ann 8800GT for PhysX. Core speed set to 900Mhz, nicely lowers itself to 400 when its idling. Memory however doesn't. My overdrive profile is set correctly, memory on "want_0" is 800Mhz, 1000 for awesome 2D, and 1175Mhz for awesome 3D. This stays...

    Recommend me a spec

Thanks for that. Probably similar to what I'd have gone for.... same cpu thats in my main PC. Good choice on the PSU and graphics, overall a pretty decent sounding build. I'd be tempted to balance it a bit more by going for a dual core cpu, and a full set of dual channel RAM though. Other...

    Recommend me a spec

Hi guys. Recommend me a build please - not for me, but it needs to run WoW, thats about it. Also, cheap is good. No peripherals required, but OS is. add the cost of W7HPx64 to anything you spec please. I'm a gaming geek, but i don't play WoW, and thus don't know what it requires. I...

    Overclocking my 5850

Hi guys. Late last week I had my Asus EAH5850 delivered. I installed it no trouble, even got it working with my 8800GT for PhysX. (Had to use 190.XX drivers for the 8800 though.) Still, i'm mightily impressed with the 5850. Playing BFBC2 i had it running at 1680x1050 at max everything...

How many of you get bored of your 'future proofed' setups?

I don't know what i fit into. Possibly a mix of option 1 & 3, since by no means am i buying literal top end stuff (since you have to buy Intel to get to the "top end" range) and I'm not always buying the "bang for buck" stuff, since i have an nVidia gpu. My rules are this: If I can't run my...

    Which 'Budget' Graphics Card?

What resolution is your monitor? some "budget" cards will only play games at decent settings at a low resolution due to a shortage of shader/stream/CUDA cores. Something like a 4670 would be good. or on the other end of the spectrum, an nvidia 8800GT is one of the better value cards out...

Is it worth having a second card as Physx?

I've got a similar setup! GTX260 + 8800GT as PhysX. Both cards now run at x8 bandwidth since thats how my board works, and i will admit i've seen no real difference in any games. You most likely won't notice any difference, as the 8800GT ran PhysX, and you're still going to have PhysX with...

Please help... something is so wrong

Tried forcing vsync on using the nvcp? tearing is usually caused by being out of sync.. Not sure if DoW2 forces vsync on, or has an option for it in the game settings.

    Scary thought- i7 overclock

You can't use that as a safe comparison... AMD chips can run at 1.5v on air if you overclock, but put an i7 at that, and you seriously risk burning it out. AMD and Intel use different manufacturing methods, so the voltages they take are really different. Intels use less volts, but are always...

Diffrent cpu's (same family) overclocking question.

You're exactly right. 955 = 965, just the 965 runs at a higher stock speed. Generally, you'll find you can get a higher speed when you overclock one which is higher at stock, as the chips are of better quality. When companies like Intel and AMD make processors, they aim for the top with...

    AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

Guys... my vCore is currently on 1.475v, at 3.5Ghz (PII X3 720BE, 206x17) Do you think it would help me get to 3.6 if i upped the voltage to 1.5? Also, has anyone tried changing the settings to something like an HT ref of 250 to get RAM speed of 1332 (250x5.33) CPU speed of 3.625Ghz...

    GF100 Cards Finally Named: GTX 480 & GTX 470

And then 7xx cards will be GF100 chips where they actually get the yields about right? These rebrands are designed to hit the pocket of the people who haven't got a clue. 3xx series OEM cards means people buying a £1000 Dell or something are going to think they have a decent chip, while i...

    PC making odd noise

if it says DDR18V fail, that suggests memory! try looking at that kind of area... is all of your RAM being identified by the system? If there's a RAM slot failure, it may well beep at you for this. Try reseating the RAM... and put that speaker back on so you know when there's a fault!

There is no hypertransport on Intel boards... Hypertransport is an AMD thing... Not sure what you mean by that.

    AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

I've got an X3 720BE, Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P, and Corsair Dominator 4GB 1600. Sorry, it got very busy at home last night, so i didn't have a chance to check it all... I've had it 2 hours prime blend stable, with temps not going over 53 for the CPU-NB and 42 for the CPU itself.

    Triple Channel Memory DDR3 PC3-12800

What's the rest of the system you're going for? You may be able to save money elsewhere! If you're going triple channel, that means an i7. Do you need an i7? could you settle for an i5, which would possibly be cheaper overall? If you don't even need that, an AMD setup would be cheaper still!
