Thanks so far your advices, guys.
The P5 Plus 500GB drive arrived today, which will be for the OS. I will consider what you have suggested, but if the games don't need anything too punchy, then I should be fine with whatever I decide. Whether it's SN770 or even a P3 Plus.
I am in the process of purchasing the parts for my gaming PC. Here's what I have so far:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (upgrading from Intel Core i7 5820K)
Mobo: ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS (upgrading from MSI X99A SLI-PLUS
SSD for OS: Crucial P5 Plus 500GB NVMe (upgrading from Western Digital 500GB...
That's the plan with the 590. Lol.
Oh, there's plenty of room in the OD11 Mini, you could probably (just about!) fit the 4090s in those bad boys. Lol. My monitor is a Dell 27" QHD 1440p 165Hz, that I bought last year. And it is a beautiful monitor! So I can easily game on 1440p at 165Hz.
I am...
I bit the bullet. I guess I have joined the procession of people who will be killed by their partners for purchasing expensive PC parts when you have a new house and a new baby to pay for. :D :D :D
I have the Corsair SF750, which I bought because I have the Lian Li OD11 Mini. The rest of the spec is as follows:
CPU - Intel Core i7 5820
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4 2600MHz RGB
Mobo - MSI X99A SLI Plus
SSDs - WD 500GB M.2 NVMe and 2x Crucial 1TB MX 500
Hmmm, I am thinking on cost here. We've just bought a house (due to move in a couple of weeks, exchange pending) and baby is due Jan 23rd (got all the items bought for him)
Ok, someone convince me if I should get this. I am deciding between this and the PowerColor 6750XT. Why that one, you ask? Because I game at 1440p and the way I see it, I don't plan on gaming in 4K for a good few years yet. Even if I get a 4K monitor, I will still end up gaming in 1440p. But...
I'll wait to see what the B650 offerings are like. Also, nearly £1k for a motherboard???:eek::eek:
I'm planning to upgrade from my 5820K/RX 590 set up. The 7 7700X could be the ideal CPU for me. But it might be a year until I can pull the plug (baby arriving in Jan and moving house around...
Guess it's time for an update on this list. Here goes:
Intel Core i7 4770K (Bought in 2015 and used in the main machine. Really good CPU and it was de-lidded for good measure, not by me though!)
Intel Core i7 5820K (also bought in 2015 and is still being used to this day in the gaming PC)
AMD...
Ok revisiting this thread after the news of the Zen 3 CPUs. I will wait a little while longer before I bite the bullet, but what you would recommend as the ideal upgrade from an ageing 5802K? I was leaning towards the Ryzen 7 5800X.
Update:
I replaced my 5 year old Corsair H100i GTX with a Cougar Helor 240 AIO. With the Corsair I was seeing idle temps of around 55-60C. With the Cougar, I am now seeing idle temps of around 35-40C. When gaming temps don't even go near 60C whereas with the Corsair it would reach 90C. Leads me...
I'm planning on replacing my AIO. It's the Corsair H100i GTX and it's 5 years old. It's cooling an Intel Core i7 5820K, or trying to. I have changed the thermal paste on it a couple of months ago and the idle temps on this thing are still around the high 40s to mid 50s mark. Whilst gaming it can...
So I keep being told. But I am fine with the RX 590 as it can still play the latest games at 1080p and most with settings maxed out. I'll wait for the new AMD Zen 3 CPUs and see what we get in the GPU department from them. Also the 590 cost me £170.
