I had decent/playable FPS with a ATI 6870. Currently everything is on low, and I don't have any shadows!
But thanks for the advice everyone. If a DVR solution is on it's way, an ATI card would be my preference.
I need a gfx card, and money is tight. I need a card that will last a good length, robust and have good performance. I don't want to need to upgrade 2-4 years down the line unless as a luxury (when I have a better job :P )
The MSI Geforce GTX 770 Gaming Edition 2048MB seems reasonable for...
swapped the PCI slot no change. Just rev-ing and black screen. So need advice on new GFX card. As I said I'm looking at the ATI 7770. About £120 to play with +/-
I have a 5870 using both the DVI Ports. I removed 1 while everything was turned on and the fan went nuts. So i turned it off and now the screens stay black even when both are connected.
the fan barely spins and the card emits no heat really. Is this busted? It's out of warranty (feb-'10) so...
Disconnected the other drives and it really started to cause issues and it appears to have stopped. I guess I'll contact Gigabyte and se if they will exchange it.
No i didn't :/ Can I still do this? how would I check if it is the USB 2.0 ports? The disconnects are quite infrequent so i can't really swap ports and test them.
2 different hdd in 2 different SATA ports have now "crashed". They stop working and appear to of disconnected from the pc. Restarting doesnt usually fix it. But shutting down waiting a few moments then booting up usually does.
Could this be the infamous SATA port problem with my motherboard...
I bought a M4 64GB SSD for my laptop:
Dell XPS 17" (L702X)
Intel i7 (2500 i think)
4GB RAM
(Port 1)500GB HDD with OS still installed. Has a small partition for Linux
(Port 0) SSD
nVid 550m
I put Win7 on a USB to install x64 verson. It installs fine and detects the SSD fine. It reboots...

just wondered if anyone can answer a few questions I have about cables:
1) does the brand make any difference on a ATI 5870 (2 monitors @ 1920*1080 each)
2) what is the max length you can use before you start losing quality?
I bought the tp-link w8951ND a few days ago and i've encountered a few problems so far:
config page not loading (white screen)
"unable to join <network name>" (only on wifi)
loses connectivity after a reboot and requires firmware restore.
I've loaded the most recent firmware but still...
So I don't have a vga or dvi port on my laptop: instead it has a mini DP slot. So to connect it to an external monitor or projector would this work?
Many thanks
