theres a few angles to this, 1st is safety. without the liner you rely on the chimneys integrity. Under HETAS we have to prove the chimney is suitable for no liner. I assume the house is pre-war due to its construction, so it will likely fail the tests. 2nd is guarantees, no HETAS usually no...

you can take out the half bricks and return it to the original opening. You can also reduce the 13" pillars to 9" if you want to gain more than 600mm, but this would obviously need a new lintel

Help removing grease/fat stains from patio?!

Always had good results cleaning stone fireplaces/hearths including sandstone with LTP cleaners. You may end up doing the whole patio though.

Under hetas we can fit into a finished fireplace, we only really commission the stove and flue. So you or someone else can do the knockout, lintel, hearth, interior chamber, beam etc. Providing it meets building regs, and the stoves requirements.

Is my Wood Burner install ok?

If its something similar to below, to create an offset, then this is fine. The offset could be more as long as its suitable for a sweep.

Amazing stoves, only had chance to fit few due to the cost, but it does come with active baffle and multifuel. Just make sure you familiarise yourself with the active baffle, as only purevision stoves have these.

The telescopic is just an adjustable length, it wouldn't be needed if you go top exit and through the roof, but on your first diagram it would be between bend 1 and 3. Like any product there is a certain level of build quality, on Tw this is the seam welds, and end caps/lock system. But really...

In short runs, like single storey. Straight up is better, it removes most of/if not all the offset, so the draw is better. Its usually cheaper, as you dont need as many brackets, telescopic lengths or 45 degs etc. Also, although its hung using a rafter support, a lot of the weight can transfer...

As Nathan mentioned TW is best, single skin pipework isn't built for external use, not only would the flue have cold temps, but the joints will break over time/seasons. I would also have TW as the pipe that passes through the panel. Ideally to the stove, I know you mentioned gaining heat, but...

Wood burning stove to close to wall?

It would need to be either moved away from the wall, which looks impractical as it needs 60cm away, or shield the wall. The manual starts to give other distances, but I think it's taking the assumption you are installing in into a recess/typical fireplace. Personally in a open freestanding...

There are many good brands these days, Clearview made their name as solid multi fuel stoves, and still are one of the best multifuels. But they havent been updated in a while, so as we speak it doesnt meet the new eco design regs. Others good brands you could look at are, Contura, Woodwarm...

Wood burning stoves FUEL BAN from 2021

The wind will usually always win. Log stores will be raised off the ground, to stop the logs drawing water up, and covered from the top, to stop the majority of the rain getting between them. But the sides are usually slatted to allow the wind to pass through. So the front being open isnt really...

Suffering from neighbors poorly installed chimney

You can check with the council or HETAS if its been signed off. But I'm going to guess that it isnt, as the flue height isnt to regulation. Also looking at the install there probably are other items on inside that dont meet regulation. Building, Part J (section 2.10) will require a 4.5m high...

    Help with inset woodburner

If there isn't any structure on the exterior, then the inset currently won't fit, you will only have a cavity wall construction, approx 300mm and most woodburners are typically 350mm. If you are set on the inset type woodburners, you would have to construct, out of suitable material a false...

    My Log Burner...

Do you run the log burner and the open fire together? And is the route open between the two fires, i.e. the doors are open between the two room? As the log burner could be affecting the draw of the open fire or vice versa. Happens in pubs with multiple stoves, they battle for flue draw. You can...

    My Log Burner...

Ill assume a few things are okay as its just been installed, like: - The stove seals/flue system seals are alright. - The chimney was clean before the liner was installed. - The pre-burns were done. - Chimney height was sufficient Else its could be an issue with the draw, which could be a...
