My new dirty filthy German mistress

It's quite surprising how comfortable the Z4C is for long journeys... in fact, the car feels like a "mini-GT" than an all-out sports car. And isn't the boot much bigger than you'd ever expect? :D If you want more noise at higher RPMs, have a look at removing some of the foam from the sound...

    Herman Miller Aeron chairs

I've had both and, in my experience, the Posturefit is much more comfortable :) I've upgraded one of lumbar-supported Aerons by buying an upgrade kit (for around £50) from a Herman Miller distributor. From what I remember, fitting instructions were included and it's easy enough to install...

Shell V-Power - does it make a difference to your BMW?

Out of interest, does your car's handbook recommend 97/98 RON for your M54 engine?

Shell V-Power - does it make a difference to your BMW?

Thanks for all the replies so far :). I'm getting just under 28 mpg with the last few tanks of 95 RON fuel but I'll fill up with V-Power the next few times to see if I there's a (albeit subjective!) difference.

Shell V-Power - does it make a difference to your BMW?

With the number of BMW owners on here, it seems as good a place as any to ask about your experiences of using V-Power (or other "super-unleaded" fuels) in your cars, particularly those with recent 3 litre engines... The handbook for my car (which has the N52 3 litre engine) recommends 98 RON...

    BMW M5 with FSH

I agree - it seems low, especially for a performance car. BMW's insurance-backed warranty (details at http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/owner/services/insured_warranty/0,,1312___dht-aHR0cDovL3d3dy5iYXllcmlzY2hlYm13Lm5ld2RvbG4ubmV0,00.html) seems to be similar in cover -- both in terms of claim...

    BMW M5 with FSH

In that case, does a third-party insurance-backed warranty (say, from Warranty Direct) offer similar cover to the 'new' BMW Extended Warranty? A quick quote from Warranty Direct for a 2003 M3 suggests a cost of around £750 for their 'Gold' product, with repairs carried out at a franchised...

Maths question concerning three dimensional integration

A long time ago since I last set eyes on such a problem, but I seem to remember that the surface area is given by the integral of sqrt(1 + (dF/dx)^2 + (dF/dy)^2) over the area element dx dy.

Dell 24 incher (NO RULE BREAKING)

No unfortunately you can't seem to do PIP/PBP with both VGA and DVI at the same time. If you get frustrated and press some of the buttons on the front bezel repeatedly, you can crash the onscreen display too :o

Dell 24 incher (NO RULE BREAKING)

I don't have enough desk space for the mouse to move the cursor from one side of the setup to the other :D

Dell 24 incher (NO RULE BREAKING)

Though with an appropriate mounting system, 4 of the 2405FPWs giving a true resolution of 3840x2400 would be quite sweet :D On another note, I'm very impressed with the quality of the analogue signal input on the monitor - light years ahead of the 2000FP in quality, especially at such a high...

Dell 24 incher (NO RULE BREAKING)

    Thanks :) It's slightly excessive, but (un)fortunately the laptop that these two are running cannot output to more than two monitors. If it could Toekiller... :p 1920 x 1200 1920 x 1200 1600 x 1200 1600 x 1024 1280 x 1024 800 x 480 (on the projector :o ) I think nearly 10...

Dell 24 incher (NO RULE BREAKING)

Deja vu. Both of mine apparently got damaged in transit first, then lost. Some monitors *without* kettle leads are apparently on their way to me today :D

Dell 24 incher (NO RULE BREAKING)

Unbelievable. One of my 2405FPWs that I had ordered has been damaged in transit resulting in a split box. Dell are refusing to arrange a "part" delivery with the undamaged box to follow at a later date, so my delivery date of today has now been pushed back to an unspecified date due to unknown...
