    New laptop sought (configurable)

Hello all, i'm looking of a laptop that offers a wide range of configuration options. Are there any recommendations for customisable laptops, thanks. +/- 15.6 screen Primary importance is single core performance above all else (multi-core is secondary) Must have Quadro graphics card (but a...

Sealing An Asbestos Roof - What Do I use?

Jet washing falls under this category (when it dries). But I take you point that cement is relativly low risk; but working the surface increases fibre release. There is guidance from the HSE on removal of cement, and nowhere does it recomend cleaning.

Sealing An Asbestos Roof - What Do I use?

Assuming its corregated cement, they are relatively low risk (do NOT read no risk), provided they are in good condition. Pulling adhered materials (ivy) and jet washing is about the best way to increase the risk / hazard to your health (other than smacking it with a hammer). You are...

    Business performance presentation laptops

Gaming cards such as GT's / GTX wil not perform at the same level as Quadro cards for modeling / Autocad (not sure if you are just playing videos / presentations). Unfortunatly most performance tables report Quadro's slower on average as the tests generally relate to games intensive on one...

    Gaming laptop

I love mine; although £1400 is very easy to spend with them.

    Cavity Wall Insulation

Knauf is just a trade name. I don't know the exact product installed, but chances are its just mineral wool. Also see rockwool, celotex... etc...etc

    Cavity Wall Insulation

Good advice. There are better ways to insulate walls (but they cost). The improvement/saving will be influenced by your existing cavity; 50mm or 70mm or whatever. You should notice a difference; but as said, the risk is water ingress. However, talk of £100/year sounds a little optomistic...

    Where to stay in Norwich?

We have stayed at 'the old rectory' several times. The room costs are good, but food and wine are expensive. However, both are excellent and reflect the good quallity.

    Anyone know anything about glasses?

With negative figuers, move the decimal place one to the right and you have my prescripion. -7.5 means ou need glases. From what little I know, most lens manufactuers work to an accuracy of about .25 (or .50 for cheap lenses). Add this to the tolerance/error in the test (how long did you...

    Tell me about EK Civics.

Assuming its an EK9 import you are after......... there are so many really bad examples arround, but a few good ones. Buy off a forum, or go to a specialst to have it looked over. Honestly, I can't justify the cost of a good one, better with an ep3 (although not as iconic)

    Your home contents insurance?

Hiscox were my first stop; close but Abbey/Santander beat them (and have an unlimited Buildings policy.... a rare thing these days). But my impression of them was good and I would try again next year.

    Your home contents insurance?

Just quoted both £700/year (£70 less than last year); but the killer on our policy is contents away from home.... sports kit which I'm not prepared to risk being nicked from the car or such like.

    Alienware Laptops

Happy with my machine and service. Also considered Alienware and OCUK. OC didn't have any in stock, and heard some poor build quallity issues with Alienware (overheating), and customer service issues (or lack of customer service should I say). Also, Alienware warrenty is very expensive...

    Is Torque Overrated ?

I have an ep3 also; and must admit the lack of torque can be a pain (lazy driving not in the correct gear); a higher torqued engine would help. BUT, when you do drive it correctly its a lot of fun. Performance, accelleration, or whatever you want to call it, is defined by gearing more than...

Tell me about the Nissan Figaro

I've looked at them for my mum but didn't end up getting one. You really need to be getting one from a specialist or enthusiast. There is a place in / near Boroughbridge which always have 4-5 in varying degrees of preperation (although not always on their website). Think +5k for a decent...

Party Wall - Magistrates Court Injunction - HELP :(

The Party Wall etc Act is seperate from Planning and Building Control. The LA will (in all likleyhood) not take any action on Party Wall matters. The Act has no provision for compensation or redress. Additionally, you have no right to stop your neighbours work. However, you have a right...

    Geometry Checks

If its from a tuner as opposed to a tyre place; they will also setup the camber and toes etc. Taylor it to FWD / RWD etc, and how aggressive you want it. Especially with FWD, a little toe and camber change from factory settings can really improve handling.

Self build house - advice please

Traditionally, windows and doors were built in (skilled joinery built on site), seperate lining, frame, door or window casements. New elements are whole products, a complete window with off site manufaturing. It is simpler to detail the reveals, damp proofing, thermal bridging with an...

Self build house - advice please

Looks like a remarkably tidy site; keep up the good work. As someone said before; make sure you have your stat services connections lined up, full quotes and orders placed. Waiting times of up to 9 months are not uncommon (although in the current climate shorter).
