    Is 100k a large salary?

Well on the basis that it’s 3x the UK average and £100k would put you in the top 4% of earners then yes it’s a large salary. Sounds like your issue is the cost of childcare and housing?

    Winter tyre advice giulia Quad

Not sure if this has been linked earlier but: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKtnczk8Mxk Used to run summer/winter on a spare set of alloys as others have said but having seen the above I’ve moved to summer/all season as we see very little snow. my experience has been very positive. No issues...

Car insurance. Multiple jobs and business use?

I have always just put business use for my wife and I on both our cars, as everyone else has said the cost is so negligible why would you run the risk of not having it if theres any chance you may be in a situation where you go to more than one place.

Keep Windows on SSD or Move to NVME PCIE

I did this a while ago, as others have said didn’t make a noticeable difference to general performance.

Using summer tyres all year round

The TRUTH About Winter, All Season and Summer Tires ❄ Tested at 0c, 2c, 6c, 10c, 15c - YouTube I found this tyre test extremely informative when it came out, I was previously running summer/winter setup but following this have moved to summer/all season (Michelin cross climate+). That said I am...

Looking for a Family car. Advice Please

Newer Civic? Not sure your budget will see you in a Mk9 but if you find the size of the Mk8 boot good then almost anything of a similar size will feel like a disappointment as the Civic's boot is 50% bigger than similar sized hatchbacks - skoda rapide may be the only other comparable unless you...

    Replacement exhaust advice (Nissan 350Z)

I wouldnt go anywhere near that ebay listing - half the compatibility information is wrong - theyre referencing compatibility with HR engine codes in 2005 when that model didnt come out till 2007. We had a cobra exhaust on our car for a brief time but changed it out for a miltek system due to...

Looking a SFF pc for livingroom but how to control it?

I’ve recently retired my HTPC but I was using my harmony remote with media centre IR receiver. Only ever used for media so never needed a regular keyboard/mouse.

What defines a fast car in 2020?

These are ridiculous statements, an RS3 is not a “regular hatch” and you speak about throwing 35k at a car like it’s nothing....most people will never have this amount of money to spend on a car and even if they did most wouldn’t be interested in this performance. Pretty much anything being...

    Used hatchback suggestions

Honda Civic if you don’t mind the looks. Much bigger boot, reliable and comfortable. Might be able to squeeze a facelift mk9 at this budget

    Biggest bargains...SLK 350?

While it may be 7.5% difference it’s still only 0.4s which in the real world will be hardly perceptible to most people. The only model that I’m aware of that drank oil as an issue was the rev up which was only made in 2006. Having owned a DE and a HR neither one ever used any oil between...

    Biggest bargains...SLK 350?

A brief look on parkers and autotrader for the stats would suggest very little price difference between equivalently aged 350z and SLK 350. Also the weight difference is less than an average sized passenger. Doesnt seem very significant the 0-60 is 0.4 seconds different...

    Silly interior painting question

Thanks very much, that’s all really helpful. We’re pretty well prepared I think! got a set of decent brushes and rollers along with trays. Also got painters tape and stuff to cover the radiators etc We’re not planning to do ceilings or woodwork except if it needs touching up but that’s great to know
