Router for BT Infinity, or use Ubuntu?

I'm afraid it only comes in the Glitz'n Glamour edition! :D

Router for BT Infinity, or use Ubuntu?

I use the new Asus router between the Infinity modem and my network. Using it with a Qnap TS-509 NAS, it works flawlessly through gigabit ethernet. Really good piece of kit, and far superior to the HH2 that I used with Infinity beforehand. HTH's Details here...

    Samsung leaving hard drive business

Well said - if we wanted a maths class, we'd all be heading back to school! The plain and simple truth is, that SSD's are currently too expensive for what they offer. Another hard drive vendor leaving the business is not good news, especially considering that if Samsung would have progressed...

System advice needed - advice welcome :)

Any more views/comments on the proposed system would be appreciated. Would my money be better spent on a different range of components? Again, many thanks in advance.

System advice needed - advice welcome :)

Thanks for the heads up - just looked & I couldn't believe how much people are asking for them on there. I've owned it for that long, that I thought it would be worth about as much as a packet of fags! Nice one!

System advice needed - advice welcome :)

Right - please be gentle. It's time again to pull myself back out from the dark ages and build a new system. My present SLi rig is on its last legs - see sig, and I have the habit of speccing a component list thats generally very high, then making it last as long as possible - i.e i'm not a...

    Spec me a NAS!

Must admit, that looks a nice piece of kit! I bought my 509 used for £400 -but would have definately considered the Tranquil if this hadn't been the case! It would be interesting to see what the OP ended up with -

    Spec me a NAS!

Can vouch for the Qnap - have a 509 Pro with 5 x Samsung 1TB drives - it's quiet, fast and a well built unit, with decent software setup.

Recommended 4 Wheel Laser Alignment/Full Geo Places on South Coast

Supertracker off of Portsmouth Road, Sholing - Southampton. (Behind Picadors). They supply the kit at the front office, and have a bay for providing their own alignment service around the back. Found my rear camber was 3.5 degrees out, which explains why my car handled like a bag of ****...

    Audi vs Elise

Thanks. :) I don't tend to post on the non dedicated motoring forums - I do post on Pistonheads & Seloc though. The charged R powered Elise is like nothing I have driven before. I moved from over 6 years of Westfield ownership, to the lise in Feb, and was somewhat underwhelmed after a...

    Audi vs Elise

I have a Honda S/C'ed S2 111S converted by Maidstones, which has alu-belled disks with Pagid pads, along with braided lines, and the brakes are superb. The difference between these, and the factory fit items is like night & day. The standard brakes were crap - and that's being kind!

    Audi vs Elise

With upgraded disks & pads, the Elise's brakes are superb. No need for them to be servo'ed. As standard, they hover just above pants.

Another my 3dmark scores too low thread

I wouldn't get to hung up over your score - sounds thereabouts for your rig, in a unclocked state - and there are still many out there that would sell there soul for a system performance like that! Now is the time, to reap those extra points from tweaking and clocking, if thats your bag. Or...

    Maxtor or Seagate

Never had any reliability problems with Maxtor, and I've used a fair few in system builds, over the years.
