    My horrible RMA experience

Well this is a worrying read. I've been eyeing up a massive new system purchase as I'm still rocking a 4th gen Intel system. Will be looking into the warranties/processes other merchants provide and considering my options very carefully. Shame really, I've been an OCUK customer since forever.

    Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

For those with FPS issues, I found that the difference between initial setup of FPS and later going in and resetting up was quite big. To begin with the initial setup had fewer fingerprint confirmations before it saved the fingerprint. Deleting and re-adding the fingerprints also prompted me to...

*****Official BBQ Thread - Suns out, Buns out!*****

Hello everyone. I've just recently got into smoking using a ProQ ranger. Absolutely loving the food it produces. I'm using ProQ cocoshell briquettes and although they are great once lit, absolutely stink while they get up to temperature. I'm quite surprised as they are supposed to be fully...

    BT Broadband vs Zen..other ISP?

I'm with Zen, they don't throttle or have fair usage policy. The best thing is you can pick up the phone and get through to someone who actually knows what they are talking about in a few seconds. No scripted foreign call centres to wade through if you have issues. That's worth it's weight in gold.

    DDOS Attacking

Is it outside the realms of possibility to put your game server on a new IP and behind a VPN, email all your clan/server buddies who play on it with the VPN details and strict instructions not to share it out? Then as you guys have packed up and moved to a different area of the net and you are...

    Automatic drive cloning (software raid?)

While they aim Veeam Backup and Recovery (paid) at servers, the Endpoint product works just fine. You can only setup a single job though.

    Automatic drive cloning (software raid?)

Veeam Endpoint - Free and can backup entire volumes for easy restore. This has the added benefit of allowing restore points in case you need to go back in time for older files etc. This is much nicer to use than Windows Server Backup as well.

    Monitors 2015

Straight up if you are doing professional colour work with the adobe products first and foremost get an IPS monitor and not a TN panel. Much much more accurate colours. I would never do work on a TN.

Question on gaming Keyboard and Mouse for 2 Systems

Check out Synergy. It allows you to move the mouse cursor from one system to another without any additional hardware. It all works over the network. http://synergy-project.org/ It's also multiplatform so you can go from Windows to Linux to Mac and back.

    Whats on your Home Server

Hi AMMUT, I work as a systems admin, so having a home lab is invaluable to me. It provides a great opportunity to learn and provides an environment I can play about in without screwing up a live environment. Snapshots let me tinker away without worry. Saying that, if the DC goes down, or...

    Whats on your Home Server

Wired/Wireless Infra Red and Wall Sockets

Perhaps look into the Z-Wave ecosystem. You can get something like a Vera Lite box to control any z-wave devices from your smart phone and then introduce control points as you go. There is everything from controllable wall wart switches, to embedded power sockets, to light switches, to...

Advantages in running own email server

Sure, some valid points there, but to play devils advocate.. Say you are on Office365, If you have a thirty person office and a single person sends a 10MB attachment to an internal distribution group which feeds fifteen mailboxes then all of a sudden you have 160MB of bandwidth being used for a...

Advantages in running own email server

I have a few SMB clients who still have crap ADSL connections to their offices out in the sticks.. In-house Exchange works for them, I would hate to try to placate all those Office365 connections over such low throughput lines. Likewise if the internet goes down a lot of businesses still like...

    BF4 BSOD crash

I also had a bluescreen start recently. Backing down from Ultra to High graphics quality fixed it. I think a recent game update may be responsible as I had not changed hardware or drivers. Anyway, I cant see the difference between the two settings, so its not the end of the world!

Replacement Router for BT Infinity + OpenVPN support.

You could build a router based around a low power mini-itx solution, or even spare parts you have laying around. Look into PFSense. It's open source and gets updated frequently. It also supports OpenVPN. Downsides are that obviously it will cost more to build. You will need a minimum of two...

To cool or not to cool?

Thanks, those blocks look good. I assume you need some passive cooling fins for the memory and such when using these though. A graphics card upgrade would be nice, but spending £100 on top of whatever I get for the cards would probably only net me the same performance I have currently.

To cool or not to cool?

So I currently have a Z97 Board and Devil's Canyon i5, with two ATI 6950's in Crossfire. I'm looking to put in a custom loop, but I am a little torn about cooling the graphics cards. Are there any VGA waterblocks I could buy for the 6950s which would work on more modern cards when I choose...
