It's good to get the theory out of the way that way the driving instructor can prepare you for the practical test when they feel you're ready, instead of getting all your general driving ready just to have to wait for you to book and pass your theory test before going into the more detailed test...

Your best bets are to use Acronis to clone the drive onto the new one, if I remember correctly it needs to be done from another computer though as you cant clone your primary drive whilst it is running the OS off it.
