    Samsung Galaxy i5700 'Portal'

I have an i5700 and it's not bad at all. It's no laggier or slower than any of the current T-mobile offered range [G1/G2] and it has a capacitive screen, which is nice. It also has the full range of accessories you'd expect - accelerometers, AGPS, magnetic compass, Bluetooth [with the usual...

    NAS options

Well the main tower [currently the server, in my bedroom] is a Coolermaster 335, but the other machine I have that is meant to be the AV server/possibly a media centre is based on the Asus T3 chassis - about 2/3 size of a boggo midi tower and the one I have has a 2.8ghz Phenom II 920 in it with...

3gb of RAM works 4GB nothing happens

+1 - I had some minor stability issues with my 8gb of 1066 RAM [4x2gb] when running at full whack - upping the volts to the recommended 2.1v solved the problem entirely.

    NAS options

Oh, and my setup: Q6600/8gb RAM/HD4850 as a server. Win7 64 bit SMB file sharing PS3 Media Server for XBox transcoding/viewing. Orb for music streaming - works really nicely on the Xbox, I expect PS3MediaServer would do the job for your PS3 though. 54g Wifi [BT voyager - ha!] Clients: Xbox 360...

    NAS options

I'd suggest: Ubuntu as base system TwonkyMedia as the file server system for most stuff [supports SMB and Bonjour IIRC], PS3 MediaServer for the PS3 [it's a simple java app, works brilliantly] 100Mb networking everywhere. If you can't get wired networking, then ideally you want a transcoding...

    DVB-T2 PC TV Tuners?

I'd expect them to show up Q1 2010, along with STBs and whatnot, in time for the summer footie season. The reason you can't find them just now is because DVB-T2 is brand new tech - the UK is the first country I know of that is using DVB-T2 - other parts of Europe are set to follow us though, so...

Rebuild my SktA into a silient-ish NAS challenge

Just a quick bump to add that I do genuinely intend to actually do this, but a variety of things going Very Very Wrong have stalled it. No job, no money, and the layout of this place means I'll need a MIMO router to get decent streaming speeds for HD content, and also some more disk. Not having...

    Recommended ADSL2 ISPs?

Quick update - gone with IDNets Pro package [90gb/month, 30gb of day, 60gb of offpeak] for £25-ish/month, on a rolling monthly contract. Updates as and when I can be bothered to give them 8)

    Recommended ADSL2 ISPs?

My line activates tomorrow. Still to makea decision, although IDNet look passable. I'm basically waiting till Be/O2 put their kit in the Scarborough exchange - so short term contracts till then.

    Recommended ADSL2 ISPs?

Yup, go forth, go with Be, and enjoy. My thread was killed off at birth - was hopin g for opinions on ADSLMax [IE non-ADSL2+ unbundled ISPs] but never mind - clearly I misread the sticky...

No decent LLUs - spec me an ISP

Well, after moving ot scarborough, I have found that the local LLUs are atrocious by reputation [AOL, Talk Talk, Orange or Bulldog] and all require an 18 month contact - stuff that. I'm looking for Ideally a sub-12month contract at a reasonable price, Ideally with more than 50gb/month...

    Recommended ADSL2 ISPs?

Be internet are, I'd go as far as aot say, excellent - I'm utterly gutted their equipment isn't in my new exchange - not least because I had to pay the rest of the 12 month contract [you can get it without that, but I wasn't expecting to move...]. I'm in the same boat, but my LLU providers are...

    Cat5e + Gigabit Connection Rant!

To be honest if you are making very long runs, it's best to treat it like fiber - treat it gently, avoid hard knocks and run everything as carefully as you can. Internal/boggo cat5 should survive outside for a while really [it's not like it's wrapped in kitchen towel or owt else absorbent] but...

    Cat5e + Gigabit Connection Rant!

This - all the cable I was running GBe through at the last two places of work was Cat5e - if it's decent quality stuff it should happily run at Gb speeds.

How well do you get on with your Siblings?

To ben fair Sentura, what I didn't mention is that I disowned my mothers side of the family nearly ten years ago, after an incident at my mothers funeral that I refuse to forgive under any circumstances. My bro and dad are my only family as far as I am concerned, and suffice to say they took my...

How well do you get on with your Siblings?

I do apologise, my good man. Er, I mean, ****, sorry me duck. That's how they talk on Coronation Street, isn't it?

    Strawberry Fanta

Don't forget the transexual threesomes! Strawberry Fanta can't be as bad as Coke Zero - that stuff is utterly, utterly rank.

    That which has been heard...

At least you know she puts out, has low standards and no expectation of talking afterwards. She mat pat you on the head though, which I find patronising meself.
