A little history:
I've recently done a swing migration of an SBS2003 domain to SBS2008, but have one very small but quite annoying issue.
On the old domain the IE homepage was set via a group policy, however the site that this policy was set to has changed.
I've tried setting the new homepage...
So here's where I'm at;
I have an SBS 2003 located in a DataCentre, have run adprep /domainprep & adprep /forestprep from a Windows Server 2008 CD.
I've successfully joined the Windows Server 2008 machine to the Domain but when I try to dcpromo I get an error saying I need to run the first...
SBS doesn't support DFSr, but you probably wouldn't one box doing SBS/Exchange and DFSr anyway. It would work well with an SBS Box and separate DFSr file server at one end (or both virtualised on one box) and a DFSr file server at the other.
A wise old man once told me.
"If you build the client a server, it goes bang and you can't fix it quickly, your in trouble. If the customer buys an IBM/Dell/HP server, it goes bang and the manufacturer can't fix it quickly. They are in trouble".
From experience of trying to run SBS in all sorts of fancy ways to create highly redundant systems, and getting bitten in the backside trying, I'd highly recommend sticking with the single box environment for SBS, or two if you have SBS Premium, after all that's how its built and supposed to be...
I've got a Small Business Server 2003 network which over the last couple of days has seen the speed of it's internet access literally seize up.
It's setup by the book with regards to dns etc, with everything pointing the the SBS box except the forwarders in dns, using either the isp's or...
Would have thought a large extractor fan running 24/7 with a few air vents in the server room door would be enough to keep that server running at an acceptable temp, and you may even be able to get the powers that be spend a £100 on a RAM upgrade to stop the server stopping in the afternoons ;)...
Aw they're lucky. My brothers got a connection that can barely manage 160kbps, he's getting on for 6.4km though.
Look into a different router, the broadcom chipset in the DG834G v4 and DG834GT are supposed to better for long lines, as I a couple of others 2wire and a speedtouch I think. I've...
I've got an issue with one or two users on a network who constantly complain of slow network file access, particularly in the afternoons.
The network currently comprises of two sites link via a VPN over an Enta ADSL connection. There are 4 files servers, two in each site, which use DFS-R on...
Just after a few ideas with this little conundrum.
I look after a company that currently uses Microsoft's DFSv2 across 4 No. Windows Server 2003 R2 servers located in 2 offices, 2 servers in each office.
The main problem they have is that DFS doesn't do file locking, which when two people...
Was asked by a friend to make a few changes to her site (www.learntosea.co.uk).
One included making one image into a link to her blog, however the site has a link color set for links and visited links.
So I made the new link a class and made the link color on that class white. It seems to work...
Hopefully someone can help me out on this. I did a quick search and didn't find anything. If I didn't look hard enough please just give me the linkies to the relevant threads;)
I have a friend who is just having a house built. He wants to have Sky+ in the main TV room, then from a main...
