    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Superb, thanks @Caged. I suppose my homework is digging into providers who let you move from SOGEA FTTC to FTTP mid-contract. Though if FTTP is replacing all the copper services, I presume that's a given so most provides would let you move?

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I currently have FTTC via Enta and that is billed via the company I used to work for. Our PSTN rental is with BT and out of contract. The BT OR FTTP checker says FTTP will arrive between now and Dec 2026, though I've noticed BT do have a local road closed for two days soon which might be a...

The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Oh, might have been. Somebody mentioned a fence in the chat so I'd assumed a normal group ride fence rather than a no-drop ride.

The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

The last Chris Hoy Doddie Aid ride on Sunday morning was Road to Sky, so up the Alpe as a group Not sure on those group drafting dynamics uphill - my previous best time solo was 58:50 and I averaged 265w for that!

3 Storey Side Extension - Am I getting scammed?

Yup - the electric UFH would just be to top-up the new room (which has a big radiator) if it's really cold.

3 Storey Side Extension - Am I getting scammed?

I've been pricing up electric UFH and Karndean for our new extension which is about 25 SqM. Holy moly, it's daft pricing. One quote for prep, supply and fit came in at £5110... without underfloor heating! We haven't even picked a top of the range LVT - the one we liked is £30 to £40 per SqM...

    Road Cycling

Yes, I have a Strada which is mounted under my Garmin on a Go-pro mount. Mine doesn't have Aktiv but if I know I'll be riding in the dark, I'll fit the Exposure push button so I can dip as traffic approaches. If I've been on full power and not got to the button quick enough to dip, I have been...

    Road Cycling

@One More Solo - I find the long distance riding fascinating. For some reason I remember a quote from James Hayden about his exploits at Transcontinental - he said ultra long distance riding is basically an eating contest. Can you keep the fuel coming to keep riding? Did you see the GCN+...

The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

I purchased my Kurt Road Machine (wheel-on) in January 2014. Only upgraded to a Saris H3 DD trainer in November 2021! I can't imagine that you'd subscribe to Zwift on a dumb wheel-on trainer but the Road Machine survived many a Sufferfest sweat-fest!

    Road Cycling

Some good mileage (km-age?) totals for last year First time I've cracked 7000km in a year (6291km for 2022 so a decent jump). Highlights being We Ride Flanders (even if it did rain pretty much all day but was delighted to clean all the cobbled climbs which were horribly wet and muddy) and a...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Not enough to heat the garage though! If I went for a Gen10+ V2, I'm thinking of going with Windows instead of ESXi so I can use the on-board VROC RAID. That also saves money on the E208i or faff time trying to get the P420 working.

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Cheers. A bit more digging seems to show the TS-464 8GB is (possibly) soldered RAM and the 4GB version has 2 x SO-DIMM. On the subject of power use, my G10 is plugged into a CyberPower UPS and the monitoring software for that claims to report power consumption (no idea how accurate it is...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Did you make any decision on what path to take? My Gen10 MS is playing up (it needs three goes at booting as it reports a thermal error). A good clean-out might help but it will be 6 years old in a couple of months, so I'm pondering replacement options. Synology DS423+ - Synology official...

    Power/Weight Thread

My improvement came from lockdown and changing to working from home. Four pre-breakfast weekday TT sessions (with a yoga session on Fridays) made a huge difference. I didn't follow a specific plan on Sufferfest / Systm, so it was just the extra volume. For 2019 Strava says I logged 149 hours...

LPG to Oil and Hot Water

That tends to annoy the owner of the trees you cut down (to say the least). Oil: Free to shop around suppliers when you need to order You pay the market price. Which can be good (when it's cheap) or bad when it's expensive (obviously!). In eight years, we've paid anything from 26p per litre...

    Cycling Holidays

I've previously posted about it but we had a week in Crolles this year. Crolles is in the valley between Grenoble & Chambrey. Two of us drove down with our bikes, the non-cyclists flew into Geneva and got a hire car. You're right below the Chartreuse regional park which is stunning but very...

I'm a long time Sufferfest / Systm subscriber and hadn't even installed RGT as I was already on Zwift. The years free Zwift subscription as compensation for not using RGT (which I wasn't using) is a nice saving!
