I have an Xpertvision 7600GT PCI-E @ 700/1650 plus another Xpertvision 7600GS AGP @ 725/1600 (default clocks are 400/1000). I thought my GT overclocked well until I got the GS.
Absolutely stonking cards for the money.
AGP was superceded far too soon. Only current top spec NVidia 8800's require more bandwidth than AGP can offer. Why change your to PCI-E when AGP offers ample performance for all but the hardcore gamers and benchmark addicts?
The 7600GT will output 480i/p 576i/p 720p and 1080i via it's component dongle. 720p (1280x720) will be the best resolution for your tv. How much it overscans, and how good the image quality are, is dependent on your tv.
I use 720p on my Panasonic Plasma which has a native 1024x768 resolution...
The XBOX360 is the better buy. Three years from now 8xxx cards will struggle to play new games at reasonable resolutions. The XBOX360 will keep on going.
PC hardware is forever trying to catch up with software. With consoles the software is forever being deleloped to get the best out of the...
I run an Opty 165 @ 2.9GHz (default volts) in a Shuttle SN95G5v2. I also have two 7200rpm hdd's, DVD burner, X800XTPE, TV card and 2GB RAM in there. It all runs fine on a 240W PSU.
PS. I use clockgen to get past the Shuttles 280fsb bios limitation.
I put my socket939 X2 3800 up for sale on an auction site a few days ago and expected to get around £70 for it. With over a day left to go bidding has now reached £112, and over 500 people have viewed it. I guess AMD underestimated the demand for this socket.
Nobody will migrate from 939 to...
If you are desperate for a good Opty 165 (which OcUK no longer stock), perform a search on a few well known price comparission sites and I am sure my supplier will pop up. They currently show 40 odd in stock. Most, if not all of recent Opty's from them have reached 2.8GHz and beyond.
I have bought 2 Opty 165's in the last month. Both were CCBBE stepping with one being wk 0615 and the other 0616. The 1st does 2.9GHz on stock volts and other did 2.8 at stock. I see no real point in going for a 170 or 175 because A64's work very well with dividers.
Good stepping 165's are available from the UK new for less than £100 if you look hard enough. I have just built a system for my brother that reached almost 3GHz on stock volts. His stepping was CBBEE 0616 xxxx - cannot remeber the end. Shame OcUK cannot source any ATM.
There are two reasons I have not upgraded my skt939 AGP system.
1). Faster AMD chips require a complete new system.
2). Faster and better Conroe systems reqire a complete new system.
Hmm, maybe that's only one reason but if it is going to cost me £500 to inrease my system performance by...
I had a 350D for a week and then exchanged it for a D50. The Canon was just too small for my hands and build quality was not very good. The D50 is a great budget DSLR.
