My Kimber Kable I purchased pre-owned from the bay, 10 meters cost me just under £200. The current equivalent is around £600 retail for same length, so huge saving buying pre-owned. The 4vs I'm using is entry level in the Kimber range but I was surprised by it.

I've not monitored the temps, however when the amp is on along time (some times 8 hours or more), I'm not nothing any excessive temps. The Yamaha A-S1200 has always got warm, the most heat comes in area of 4 large capacitors in the centre of it. Also if you want a comparison between speaker...

    Spec me a streamer/DAC

I use Amazon Basic Cat 7, the old version as Amazon changed it. It's not very flexible but it's heavy and well constructed, the plugs on the end are good also. On eBay there is loads of NOS selling cheap. Also there is a new WiiM Ultra coming, that has it's PSU inside the device.

Had these a couple of months now, Fyne Audio F502's. When I first got the speakers they were fatiguing, however they have settled in and the fatiguing issue has gone. Running these on a Yamaha A-S1200 and they are very well matched. Anyhow here is a photo of one of them :D.

    Spec me a streamer/DAC

I own the WiiM Pro, however I connect it optically into external DAC, Yamaha CD-S2100. I also tried both optical and coaxial digital outputs on the WiiM and optical sounded better. The PSU that comes with the Wiim Pro & Plus version is poor, I power mine from a USB port on my HTPC, that has...

Upgrade bookshelf to floor standers or get a SUB (for music)

If going Wiim Pro and using it's internal DAC go Wiiim Pro plus. The DAC on regular Wimm Pro is not very good, I use mine fed into external DAC only. If op has a dac however get the cheaper Wiim Pro as digital side is identical to Plus version.

I have never heard a Orbe, but over the Rega's they sound less deep compared to a Nottingham Analogue. It's to do with weight, Rega focus on being lightweight, in contrast the Nottingham Analogue decks focus on being more heavy, as the weight of the Nottingham Analogue decks increase between...

Your turntable is brilliant. Have you ever compared it to say a Nottingham Analogue or any of the Rega's? I'm in the market for a turntable, and have a budget of around £1500 used. Over your Viking, I can imagine what it sounds like. My Yamaha CD-S2100 it sounds amazing, it's an SACD...

Do bookshelf speakers have to be on a stand?

I see where your coming from. On my desk stands I'm using isolation foam that is branded Neewer and it improved sound. I do run my speakers sideways with tweeters on the outside and almost entire side of speakers is sitting on foam, they appear very stable.

Do bookshelf speakers have to be on a stand?

On my desk monitors (speakers) I use foam on top of stands (Gear4Music same as yours), the foam helped those. Why would you not want foam on Kona's?

Do bookshelf speakers have to be on a stand?

Those stands will work well, you have the foam under the speakers that also helps. Your speakers and stands look very good and fit in that area.

Do bookshelf speakers have to be on a stand?

Stands filled with dry sand is a great way of doing this if weight not an issue.

Yamaha have always made good stuff, some of their vintage 70's amps and tuners are still highly regarded. Yamaha made some good turntables with the Yamaha GT range.

I now have this Yamaha CD-S2100 SACD player, it also doubles up as a DAC. It's discontinued and purchased it pre-owned from a Yamaha dealer. It's very good indeed, sound is organic. I have to wonder if all CD players were like this would the vinyl revival have been so strong! This is...

    Cold CPU overheating

CPU / GPU coolers you want them to get hot, hot is good as it means thermal transfer is happening. If the coolers are not getting hot or even warm at idle, then thermal transfer is not occurring correctly. The result is the cooling fan can't work efficiently, so the fan runs at higher RPM...

Anyone using a higher end Yamaha CD player, CD-S1000 to CD-S3000

Bit of a long shot, but is anyone here using any of the Yamaha higher end CD players, CD-S1000, CD-S2100, CD-S3000. If so what are your thoughts on them. Read skipping issues are a fault that can occur on these. What are your thoughts on the DAC's on these. I'm about to pull the trigger on a...
