    Emergency Savings

Im married and we both work so different situation obviously. Previously we have been crap with money, we are now trying to be more sensible. I try to keep it so I have at least 2k in my current account before my next pay comes in. We then have some in a regular saver account with decent...

Odd situation with online retailer (John Lewis)

You could have easily not read that email. I doubt they could chase you for extra money after you have received it. I guess they could ask for the phone back but if you say it's opened and the box has been recycled then I doubt they would want it?

The continuing decline in availability of physical media

I sold / binned the vast majority of my physical media. Kept a few things that I have particularly fond memories of. I put them in the attic for a couple of years but then realised that I'm never going to use them again so just got rid of them. I've been both chucking out more stuff and trying...

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

Our loft insulation was upgraded somewhat recently, like in the last 10 years at least and since then I've boarded half the loft by installing loft legs to clear the insulation then boarding on top of the legs. I've still got the scar from where the cordless screwdriver slipped when installing...

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

We've used 496KWH of electric this week costing us £110 (and still 2 hours to go) Does that seem completely crazy for 2 adults and 2 kids in an electric only 3 bed semi on economy 7 with storage heaters, or is that borderline understandable? Its a 70s build so not so great insulation etc.

To be fair, HMRC are pretty cool. I would recommend anyone talks to them if you need help trying to figure out what you actually need to pay. Probably best not to talk to them if you are some people in this thread though lol.

You can earn what you like through PAYE. Nothing to do with this. You can then make up to £1000 turnover self employed before you have to register and pay tax on your earnings. eBay trading and such counts towards that. If you mow some lawns and take £600 then buy and sell on eBay and take...
